The Face Shop Smart Peeling Mild Papaya Review

I first tried 'peeling liquids' couple of years back in 2017. Then, I discovered chemical exfoliation (Glycolic Acid is bae!). And now I can confidently tell you that these are a better option than physical exfoliation (Especially if you have very sensitive skin). They work great for around the nose area (more effective than physical exfoliators and more gentle than nose strips).

My first was The Body Shop Drop of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel and Drops of Youth Liquid Peel. Both are similar and works great. But, not very easy to work around with facial hair and peels up far quickly.

Later, I tried Dr. Sheths Extra Gentle Peel and it was way too gentle and ineffective for me.

When I found about The Face Shop one, the papaya gave me some hopes and I was not wrong.

Price: Rs 950 but I purchased for Rs 800 because of some discounts. I purchased it in December when there was an offer of a free diary.

Packaging: Plastic bottle with a plastic pump. The pump is sleek and dispenses product perfectly. I am surely going to repurpose this bottle because the pump is good. (I am a thing for skincare in pumps. There are too many of them on my washbasin. My husband had to ask me once, "I just want to wash my hand. Tell me what to use." 😊)

Ingredients: While The Face Shop talks about being a clean brand and the ingredients are better than the most brand, they are is still room for improvement.

Water/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Peg-8, Steartrimonium Methosulfate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Triethylhexanoin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Papin, Isopropyl Alcohol, Parfum/Fragrance

Efficacy: It is gentle and yet very effective. This peel does not peel up into tiny balls of dirt as quickly as The Body Shop formulas. Hence, I get more time to work with the peel - rub gently in a circular motion. Also, the peels are tinier and are not stuck to facial hair like TBS. I love it far more than TBS for these reasons. It effectively exfoliates without drying or stinging the skin. The initial scent is a bit sharp but it is not uncomfortable and goes away soon. Skin feels softer and cleaner from within after use.

Overall: I purchased this back when I was not into minimalism as I am now. So, probably this will not be repurchased. However, as a peel, it is a great product. It works well and exfoliates without any damage to the skin.
