The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%

Jun 19, 2019

Of all the things, I wanted to start using from The Ordinary, the Glycolic Acid was on top of the list. Unfortunately, I never received my bottle. Also, it is always out of stock. So, let's talk of something from the list that I have -Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%.

Why Vitamin C for skin?

Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant that brightens the skin tone and reduces the appearance of signs of aging.

What is special about the Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension?

1. Right for my pocket. Even when I have to pay customs, I do not mind the price point. This is not my first Vitamin C Serum but definitely the first with a clinical formula.

2. Good Formula - free of silicones, mineral oil, alcohol and all things that you wish to avoid in general.

Ingredients: Ascorbic Acid, Squalane, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Coconut Alkanes, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glucomannan, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Trihydroxystearin, BHT.

Texture: Gritty powder in a flowy lotion. Sounds awful? Read the 'How I Use' section for details.

Packaging: Sleek tube packaging. The suspension can flow out. But, the lid is sturdy. It is living in my office bag since May. Even traveled with me. Zero accidents so far.

How I use: Get yourself a cuppa now. This is going to be long.

The website recommends using a small amount at AM or PM. PM is preferred. I use Glycolic Acid at PM so, I kept this for AM. As learned from the layering videos, I applied it and on top of it, I applied my faithful rosehip seed oil. Minutes passed but the oil stayed on. I used a tissue to wipe it off. Next again, again the same case.

On the third day, a light bulb lit over my head. Why not mix the oil and serum? And my life is easier since then.

1. Mixing both, made it easier to absorb.

2. The gritty feeling of the serum is gone as the oil adds the slippery feel.

3. No stinging feel. However, that can be because my skin is used to the high level of Vitamin C by now.

It is bound to sting when you start using Vitamin C for the first time. Think about applying lemon juice. It is not beyond tolerance level but it stings.

If you have already purchased this suspension then I request you to mix it with your favorite moisturizer.

If you have not purchased this and do not mind using silicones (I do!), then buy the Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone.

Efficacy: I could see the effects in a fortnight. It does add glow to your skin. I did not have a kind period last month so, my skin was not great last couple of weeks. This is not an anti-acne product so it did not help much. (Used The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% for that.) But, this still felt good to use.

Overall: I have a couple of learning to share after using Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%. -

A. I love Vitamin C in my skincare routine. I do not think it is going away anytime soon. There is always going to be Vitamin C in my skincare in the foreseeable future.

B. I do not want anything else in my Vitamin C formula. Luckily, The Ordianary have a 100% pure Vitamin C formulation - The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder. Moreover, yes, you guessed it right. Your sister has already purchased it. I am going to finish using this suspension but I am moving to the powder. More on that later.

Love,
Shayoni
