Skincare Routine AM & PM with Natural Products

Jan 1, 2019

Happy New Year

Let’s start the new year with one of the most requested post – Skincare Routine.

My skincare routine is very simple and aims at basics. It is not perfect and may or may not be suitable for you. But, I will share why I use any of the product and what are the alternatives that I enjoy.

If you have troubled skin then I might not be the best person to help you out here and I will urge you to visit a doctor. Last year I had forehead acne which I later found out was because of stress. By the way, the reason of my stress was bad skin. So, here I am leaving you to do the math :D

Cleanse: (AM and PM) The basic and most important step. I do not believe in using harsh face washes or the ones with Sulphates. The two face washes that I use on repeat are Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Cleanser and Just Herbs Silksplash

If my skin is irritated or feeling sensitive then I use Cetaphil

These work for me because I do not use any face makeup like concealer, foundation, face powder, etc….ever! Every picture that you see of mine is always zero makeup.

For a deeper cleanse, I use Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser or just almond or olive oil or The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter to dislodge any deeper impurities. This makes the exfoliation step easier.

Exfoliation: (PM) I am a big fan of exfoliation be it either body or face. You can never get good skin if you do not exfoliate. But, be gentle. No need to go ninja on your skin. I have found that the powder ubtans to be the most gentle and effective exfoliators. Use them as masks first to absorb the benefits of the ingredients. I am not a fan of Forest Essentials but their Ubtans are 100% natural and come in various variants. I am using Forest Essentials Soundarya which has saffron in it. My other favorite is to use Vedantika Anti-Acne Mask. I generally use them with rose water or milk or yogurt or even honey but I am experimenting with Forest Essentials Aloe Vera Juice and enjoying the results.

I also use face masks but I will do another post on them.

Tone: (AM and PM) Adding a toner or face mist between face wash and face oil has its own set of benefits. I do not want this post to dig deep into science and some of you nodding off so, here is the end line – use a face mist before face oil. But, I do not want you to blindly follow someone over the internet so, here are some pointers - A. You will need less face oil so, you get moisturized skin without that oily ‘chip-chipi’ look B. The face oil is easily absorbed. C. Prevents acne.

I use Pixi Glow Tonic (PM only) at times (I will tell more in the next post) But, Kama Rose Water is a constant in my skincare bag. I have a bigger bottle at home and a travel one always in my bag. Hydration is the key here :)

Moisturize (AM and PM): No-brainers here. I use LifeFlo Rosehip Seed Oil and I do not think there is an alternative to this. If you have acne scars or any major skin issues then try Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi. It is one of the best in the market.

Protect (AM only): Innisfree Water Base Sunscreen is my favorite and does not give any oily feel or white-cast which other sunscreens. But, I do forget to use it and I know that it is a crime.

This post does not have the special products which I use need basis. I will do another post with those special products. Stay tuned.

Any suggestions or recommendations that you have for me? Anything to make this routine better? Please comment below.

Also, please read this skincare routine post I did in 2014. Nothing has changed much.
