Dr. Sheth's Basic Brightening Daily Cleanser

Apr 2, 2018

If you love skincare then you must have heard about Dr. Sheth’s products.

In case you haven’t. here is a little back story – Dr. Sheth’s products are developed by a dermatologist - Dr. Rekha Sheth – who formulated these luxury products tailored for Indian skin. Indian skin has melanin, more prone to pigmentation, and have to tolerate harsher sun rays and more pollution. To fight against that, Dr. Sheth’s products have more skin actives than other skincare products which are formulated majorly for Caucasian skin (fairer skin with less melanin)

They have a nice range of products which are available online on their website. Recently, I even spotted them on Nykaa. I discovered them in a store – Rangeela in Goa – a store I went just to browse because it was a very old Portuguese home tastefully decorated. Anyhow, I saw Dr. Sheth’s there and two product that went into my cart – Basic Brightening Daily Cleanser and Basic Brightening Extra Gentle Daily Peel. Reviewing the Daily Cleanser today.

Price: Rs 375 for 50ml . The price is same as Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine but expensive compared to Just Herbs Skilplash. Comparing this face wash with these Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine and Just Herbs Silkplash as they are my favorite natural face wash by Indian brands.

Texture: Sticky light gel with tiny pink granules. Like Clean & Clear Morning Burst. I remember seeing them first in a Lotus face wash for oily skin. What are those pink granules? I have no idea. Can you please check the ingredient and guess that those are?

Foaming: The face wash is made of coconut oil derived cleansing agent so, the foaming is not much. But, it cleans properly. This makes it good for all types of skin. There is no drying feeling or stretchiness. The face wash also contains hydrating agents like glycerin, rosehip seed extract, and almond oil.

Ingredients: I cannot help but think about Just Herbs Silkplash here. Similar coconut derived ingredients and ingredients to soothe and pamper skin. But, Just Herbs is curtly-free, cheaper, and ECOCERT certified. Kama Ayurveda is 100% natural with no added perfume.

Purified water, cocoamidopropyl betaine (cleansing agent), sodium cocoyl taurate (coconut derived cleansing agent), capryl glucoside (vegetable derived cleansing agent), Glycerin (hydrating agent), polyquarternium 7 (skin conditioning agent), Rosehip seed extract (brightening, scar removal), Vitamin E (repair), Almond Oil (hydration), Acrylates/Alkyl acrylates cross-polymer (gelling agent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative), disodium EDTA (heavy metal remover), perfume

Overall: A good face wash with nice ingredients that will suit all skin types. I find no issues with the products. I do what it says - basic brightening daily cleanser.

While I am happy to see a brand trying to launch products that are gentle and yet effective, I would have appreciated it even better ingredients list and lesser price point. Especially, when people cannot try before buying. Greedy much?

Have you tried Dr. Sheth’s products? What do you think about them?
