Dr. Sheth's Basic Brightening Extra Gentle Daily Peel Review
Dr. Sheth's Basic Brightening Extra Gentle Daily Peel Review

What is a peel? To answer in the most basic layman terms – a peel is a beauty product that dissolves the top layer of your skin to kick start repair. So, why not use scrubs? It is said to be better than scrubs because there are no abrasives involved which might cause damage. So, this is a good choice for sensitive skin to reveal the glow within. But, peels are expensive and can sting a lot.

Good peels do sting a little but it should not be uncomfortable. But, they are supposed to – a little – to make sure that something is happening.

I am still on my path to discover peels (because I am still partial to good old face scrubs). I have always found peels which are supposed to be used once a week or once every fortnight. I saw the ‘Daily’ tag on this and I could not resist.

Price: Rs 850.00 for 50 ml

Ingredients: Purified water, Glycolic acid (resurfacing, hydration), Lactic acid (hydration, resurfacing), Glycerin (hydration), light liquid paraffin (hydration), Olivem 1000 (olive derived emulsifier), Arlamol 812 (emulsifier), Wheat and berry sugars (xylityl glucoside, anhydroxylitol, xylitol), Steareth 21 (emulsifier), Cetyl Alchohol (emulsifier), propylene glycol (penetration enhancer, solubilizer), sodium acrylates copolymer (emulsifier), lecithin (hydration), pomegranite extract (brightening), calendula extract (calming), grapefruit extract (brightening), sodium hydroxide (pH adjuster), Perfume

Dr. Sheth's Basic Brightening Extra Gentle Daily Peel is a gentle and does not sting at all. I apply it all over my face, massage gently for about a minute, and wash it off. It does not have the peeling like The Body Shop Liquid Peels (which I miss). If I use the TBS peel after using a face scrub (meaning, my skin is free of dead cells), the TBS will not peel anything. But, even after I apply Dr. Sheth’s peel, TBS peel will pull up some dead skin. It makes me wonder if this really works.

Another way to apply this is to keep it on like a mask and then wiping it off with cotton. This seemed like a great idea. But, my skin felt more red than usual the next day. Maybe it worked?

But, I fail to see any instant or even next-day-glow because of this.

Overall: I am wondering how it worked for so many people but not me. Maybe there is a better way to use it. Until I discover that method, I sadly will have to say – this is not worth the time or money.

I know this is a gentle daily peel so, it is mild. But, it should peel effectively as well. If it does just 10% peeling when why use it?
