Kama Ayurveda DARBARI Meditate Body Oil

Feb 6, 2018

Tired of dry skin in winter? I can feel that sister. Most people don’t moisturize regularly but not me. I used to moisture twice a day. I would finish tubs of Nivea Soft Crème. I loved the fragrance, and I liked how it moisturized without stickiness. After I had gone through my arms worth of Nivea crème, I realized this was not solving the real issue. Right then begin my search for a new moisturizer. The fact that I could use my review for blog motivated me more. But, in the last couple of years, I have concluded that nothing works better than oil. I still use crèmes and lotion, but at times you are in a hurry and do not have the liberty to slather yourself with oil.

I have gone through several body oils and here is another one reviewed for you. 😘

Price: Rs 525 for 100ml. Interestingly, this is on the cheaper side when you consider the price of Kama Ayurveda products.

  • Carrier Oils: Sunflower Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil
  • Essential Oils: Lavender, Clary Sage, Spearmint Oils

Review: I was apprehensive that it will sticky because of Sesame Seed oil but the balance of Sesame seed oil with non-sticky Sunflower Seed Oil and Jojoba Seed Oil makes the oil non-sticky and easy to absorb. The oil seeps into skin leaving behind soft, moisturized from within, and with no sticky feeling. I must say that Kama Ayurveda is excellent at this point.

The aroma of the oil is very relaxing because of lavender. Clary Sage gives the sense of calm. Spearmint adds the right dose of freshness to it. The oil has a mild warming effect which relaxes the muscle. The whole fragrance has an earthy tone. It helps in soothing and relaxing. But, the scent is very different from anything you might have tried before. It is not the run-of-the-mill fragrance that you can connect with easily. So, if you have not used herbal or earthy aroma oils/lotions then for you, I will vote against this.

The bottle does get sticky over time. I do appreciate the dark bottle of Kama Ayurveda which maintains the oil. I have the bottle for almost a year now, and it still smells the same. (I keep them in a drawer where it is colder and away from light) . But, there is no dropper/stopper in the bottle. It makes it hard to control how much oil comes out from the bottle. I hope they start retailing this with a lockable pump bottle.

Overall: I like to use Darbari to on days when I have walked a lot or back home after traveling. I completely agree with what they say on their website - this soothing blend unwinds stressed senses, reduce muscle tension, and relax the mind. The floral yet earthy scent promotes a feeling of calm and grounded alertness.
