5 The Body Shop SUPERFOOD Face Masks Review

Apr 20, 2017

Unless you are living under the rock or don't give a dime about skincare, you might be aware of the new The Body Shop Super Food Face Masks. There are five variants in total, and I saw them first last year in Malaysia. Luckily, right before the summer's humidity damages our skin, we have the masks in India. Each of them is inspired by traditional beauty remedies from all over the world - this is the part which excited me the most. Each of the masks has different texture, ingredients, and fragrance to reveal skin's healthy looking glow. Super excited!!

But, there is a but here. The masks are pretty expensive. I uploaded an image of the textures of these masks on my Instagram feed. When I asked what they feel about it and everyone used the word 'expensive' in some or other way.

How expensive? Rs 2495 for one tub. The price in the USA is $28 which comes to around Rs 1850. Interestingly, the price was around that even in Malaysia. If you buy from the online store of The Body Shop India, the price comes close to the USA price because of the 25% discount. Later I even got to know that people got 40% off in the USA. So, overall I am confused why the price is high in the first place.

There are free gifts which are quite good to fill the holes burned by the price, but the gifts are not always present. At some of the stores, when you buy the masks they offer a Pamper Parter box which comes with  Headband and a Face Towel for free. Some stores are also offering a coloring book. (I need that coloring book in my life, but none of the stores in Kolkata have that 😞 )

Maybe this is the longest I have talked about the price point of any product because the price is what hits the most. Pheww...

Greenberry Organics (Vegan and Natural Products)

If you shop skincare or cosmetics from Amazon.in, there is a high chance that you might have heard about Greenberry Organics Mud Ash. It is the Number 1 Best Seller in Body Scrubs. I was intrigued. I followed the brand on Instagram and discovered more about them. Greenberry Organics is a startup by Arjoon Mehra based in Delhi. They have few but effective skincare and they are in the growing phase with new products added to the list every month. So, I decided to try the four products that got my attention. They are not the run-of-the-mill combination of ingredients. Plus, the products are free from toxins like Silicones, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, DEA, TEA, Phthalates, Phosphates, any Artificial fillers, SLES/SLS or Parabens.

Natural Skincare Ingredients + Where to Buy Them Online

Apr 12, 2017

You know how I like products with less but potent ingredients. And now, we have a store to supply those potent ingredients – Blend it Raw. While choosing the products, I realized how I have been depended on these or have been meaning to try them for long now. Here are ingredients which I think is absolutely necessary if you love DIYs for your skin.

Also, small-brand shout-out to ‘Blend it Raw’ from where I restocked my stash. The products are affordable and arrived quickly.

MAC Whirl, Have Your Cake, Dangerous, and Russian Red

MAC Whirl, Have Your Cake, Dangerous, and Russian Red Lipstick Review
MAC Whirl, Have Your Cake, Dangerous, and Russian Red Lipstick Review

What do you do when MAC hikes the lipstick price by almost 50%? You stop caring about them. I deleted my 'Mac Wishlist' and crossed it off my mind. Then, one day you find yourself at Kuala Lumpur airport with 10 hours layover. While husband decides to sleep, I decided to explore. Right at that point, my sweet friend, Rini, informed that MAC is priced really cheap there. I made a beeline to the store only to find that everything is in stock, but by then I had already used up my 10 hours time. With very less time in hand, I had no time to Google - 'Best MAC Shades for Indian Skin.' Zero time in hand. Zero shade names in my mind. I randomly picked my choices. They had to be of the matte formula to be on the safer side. FYI The only non-matte permanent lipstick I own is Mocha (satin)

Price: Rs 1500 in India. RM 70 (Around Rs 1000) in Malaysia. See the huge difference?

The 30 Items Massive Empties Post

Apr 3, 2017

For over a year, I was away from home. I would come once a month to Kolkata, pick up new products to try, refill my travel bottles with my Holy Grails, and that's all. But, from mid of February, I had no travel plans. So, I decided that it's time to declutter because my drawers were so full that they won't even close while most of the products were already on the bathroom shelves and some suffocated by the stuffed environment of the drawers even migrated on the book self 🙈

When I took out all the products, I found several half-used products or just left with just left with a couple of usages. Sadly, many were on the verge of expiry or just exhausted their shelf life. 😟 I made a target to use only those and skip my favorites. It feels bad to throw things away so, I even repurposed few of the products. Obviously, I checked them properly before using them. Face scrubs were used as body scrubs, toner as a medium to mix body wrap mix, etc. Still, a lot of those 'target' products are left.

I had fun. Have your ever done this?

The first time I did this when I found a crappy shampoo that I later used to wash scarfs.  ðŸ˜ƒ
