The Herb Boutique Winter Snowflake Body Oil Sandalwood, Orange, Ylang Ylang Review India
The Herb Boutique Winter Snowflake Body Oil Sandalwood, Orange, Ylang Ylang Review India

Do you use body oils? If you don't then please start using them. You skin deserve the massage and love. Petroleum jelly based products which only adds a top shield to stop moisture from escaping and the other cream products seep in but not deep. Body Oil on the other hand, seals moisture are absorbed by the skin, increases elasticity and fades marks. Right after my evening shower (when I scrub off all dirt and pollution away), I use oils to massage in the goodness and seal the moisture.

Unfortunately, the body oils available at stores are all full of mineral oils. The good ones are hard to find. To avoid all hassles, I will say that you buy almond oil and add essential oils of your choice. But, I love to try the new blends and last month I got to try a fantastic sandalwood oil blend - The Herb Boutique Winter Snowflake Body Oil.

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit Aromatic Mist

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit Aromatic Mist
Kiehl's Aromatic Blends Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit Aromatic Mist Review

Let's not beat around the bush and say it - Spring in India is a joke. We just get those transient days between wearing pullovers and sweating like a sinner at a church. The days when the Sun still feels like our friend and not a blood sucking enemy; when the wind blows just to give a peek on the cheek and not slap you. You blink and these sweet days disappear.

(Most cities don't even see winter, but that is better left not discussed. I know many people who lived their life without the joy of wearing boots.)

Having spring appropriate products is hence a stupid thing to be. But, the heart yearns for it.

Three years back, I got to know about Kiehl's aromatic blends. I got to try the Fig Leaf and Sage Lotion. You might have read the review and know how much I love the fragrance. Finally, I decided to pick the perfume. But, Fig Leaf and Sage was not available so, I got Nashi Blossom and Pink Grapefruit.

Love to Travel OR Travel to Love?

Westside Head Over Heels Metallic Shoes Ballerina Flats
Westside Head Over Heels Metallic Shoes Ballerina Flats

Recently, I met a man. Older than me. Last month, he traveled by train and plane for the first time in his life. He never traveled. He lived his entire life in one city. Entire life. I could not absorb it. It had been a couple of weeks since he told me this, and I am still not able to absorb it. Flight is something I can understand because many are afraid and some cannot afford. But, not even trains? Never left the city ever in his entire life?

It seemed impractical for someone like me who has been traveling since 4 months of age. First, it was my dad's transferable job, and my parents wish to explore, then my studies, then my job, then my long distance relationship. I feel thankful that I always had an excuse to travel. I am happy that I get to travel alone.

It started because I had to travel for love. Now, I love to travel. It does not have to be a flight crossing the oceans. Even a four-hour train journey excites me. I do not even always prefer the AC coaches to travel.

The only people I envy are not the ones who have a big car or a beautiful apartment but the ones who have traveled more. Every time I see a map, I feel overwhelmed because there is so much left. I point my finger at random places and wonder - Will I be able to go there?

I hope I never run out of excuses. I agree that living out of suitcases is difficult but I find living at one place more challenging.

In the end, I just want to share something I read in Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth

“Human nature will not flourish,
any more than a potato,
if it be planted and replanted,
for too long a series of generations,
in the same worn-out soil.
My children have had other birthplaces,
and, so far as their fortunes may be within my control,
shall strike their roots into unaccustomed earth.
—Nathaniel Hawthorne, “The Custom-House”

Kiehl's Aromatic Blends Fig Leaf and Sage Skin Softening Body Lotion (Silicone Free)

Ques: Guess how old this bottle of Kiehl's lotion is.

Ans: It came into my life in February 2014.

Ques: Guess when I took the pictures.

Ans: April 2016. I borrowed a camera from someone because I loved these flowers and it was almost dark. I went back at this exact spot last week. These wild flowers no longer grow there. At least I have pictures of them to look at.

Ques: Guess where is the bottle now.

Ans: On my lap as I write this.

Ques: Why have I not thrown it away?

Indo-French Edition My Envy Box February 2017

Indo-French Edition of My Envy Products has a mix of products from Indian brands and French brands. The print on the box is also done to represent the same - Lotus for India and Eiffel Tower for France. And the mint color takes to another level. I love the box - a lot. I consider this a birthday surprise from My Envy Box 🙊

Let's see what is inside:

Anti-Valentines?

Happy Anti Valentines Day Card by Alicia Souza
Happy Anti Valentines Day Card by Alicia Souza

When I saw this card made by Alicia Souza, I had to get it. Am I really anti-valentines day? Well, no. I am bothered by the consumerism around it.

Valentine’s Day amuses me. It is not that I hate the day or anything. Please go ahead. Loved your better half and shower them with joy. Just like you do the other 364 days.

Remember not to fall for peer pressure. Just because someone else gifted their spouse 100 roses, you don’t have to compete and gift 100 daisies.

Instead, compete with your better half. Try to outdo your better half. It will only try to bring more love to your relationship.

January'17 Empties

Feb 4, 2017

January is over. That means only one thing - Birthday month is here. I will travel the entire month. Before you get jealous, do realize that it is for work and I will be moving in the smaller cities. For example, I arrived Kolkata from Jamshedpur yesterday at 10 PM and now writing this post on my way Nagpur. So, I am kind of unhappy for being away from home. Being away from home means being away from healthy food and my whole collection of products. #SkincareAddict But, I pack most things with me in smaller bottles and tubs,

Enough of my blabber.  Here is what that got over recently.

So, here is the first empties of the year.

Lucas Papaw Ointment India Review
Lucas Papaw Ointment India Review

There was a time, disheartened by the late launch and unavailability of product, I used to browse eBay.com for hours. It was back when I got to know about Papaw Ointment. Essentially Lucas Papaw is to Australians what Borolin is for Bong. We essentially grow up with the tube and keep one for the just-in-case-scenarios. It was developed by Dr. T P Lucas and later manufactured for retail by his widow. Even after 100 years, it is a family owned business with just 40 people working.

Junaili APRICOT FACE OIL Cold Pressed Pure Himalayan Facial Oil

Junaili Cold Pressed Pure Himalayan Budget Apricot Oil Review
Junaili Cold Pressed Pure Himalayan Apricot Oil Review

Right after I did the post on my 2016 Favorites, I realized that even though I love to use face oils during the day, I don’t have an economical and available-in-India answer to that. My favorites are either
  • Tough to get in India (Life-Flo Rosehip via iHerbs), OR
  • Hell expensive (Innisfree Green Tea Seed Oil) OR
  • Not available in India (Sensatia Botanicals Facial Hydrate).

So, the first thing I needed was to work on this issue - to find a Made-In-India face oil which works and is economical. When I returned home after three weeks of travel, I found a package containing Junaili Face Oil. (I already talked about the brand Junaili when I shared my love for their inexpensive and insanely effective Apricot Kernel Body Scrub.)

It checks all the boxes. Now, I had to make it work as a face oil for the day. But can Apricot oil be used during the day on the face?
