Vichy Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Cleansing Micellar Solution and One Step Cleanser // Sensitive Skin
Vichy Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Cleansing Micellar Solution and One Step Cleanser // Sensitive Skin

While traveling, the biggest bargain you have to make with yourself is what to pack and what to leave behind. My current trip was supposed to be for just two weeks which has now stretched to four additional weeks. Obviously, now, I have started to miss a lot of things which I now think that I should have brought along. On top of my list is definitely these two cleansers from Vichy.

Vichy Laboratoires Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Cleansing Micellar Solution

Vichy Laboratoires Purete Thermale 3 in 1 Cleansing Micellar Solution

The only micellar makeup remover I have used is Bioderma, and it was capable of removing just light makeup. So, I had very low expectations from this. Micellar solution is for sensitive skin so they cannot remove long-lasting makeup. Can they?

On the first day, I used it to remove just some sunscreen, powder, and non-waterproof eyeliner. It removed every trace of makeup. It is gentle and left my skin feeling fresh and breathable. It is a good option as a morning cleanser as well – gentle and efficient.

Just to test its limit, one day, I put on my strongest makeup along with waterproof eyeliner, kohl, and mascara. Surprisingly, it worked. (But, not for all makeup when I tried later)

To work on the eye area, I soak the cotton with the micellar solution and lightly press it on my eyelids. When I remove it after 5-10 seconds, all the makeup is dissolved and removed by it. For very strong makeup on the waterline, I had to repeat the process one more time. I faced no irritation, redness or cloudiness when I used it to remove eye makeup. (For record – I do not have super sensitive eyes). But, do make sure that it does not enter your eyes :P

It leaves behind no traces of makeup. If the cotton is loaded with the micellar solution, then it can be left on your skin and feel a bit sticky when it dries. Anyways, I wash it off with water. Unlike oil or balm cleansers, no face wash is required to clean it off. But, for its toning effect, you can even keep it on.

Price: Rs 990 for 200ml

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Hexylene Glycol, Glycerin, Poloxamer 184, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Parfum / Fragrance, Code F.I.L. B48684/4

Vichy Laboratoires Purete Thermale 3 in 1 One Step Cleanser Sensitive Skin

For extra dry and flaky skin, the toning effect of micellar solution can feel a bit strong. For dry or dry combination, Vichy has another offering. The One-Step Cleanser is a light runny cleansing lotion. It can be used with cotton pads like the micellar solution or used directly on the skin. I find using it with cotton more effective. Plus, you need less when used with cotton. Also, do no load your cotton with the cleanser. Less is more here.

Just like the micellar solution, it removes every trace of makeup in one gentle swipe. It faired great even with the heavy makeup. I find it tough to use for waterline area with strong kohl. I had to dab and wipe quite some time. But, for eyeliner and mascara, there are no issues.

There is no need to wash it off with water. But, I do prefer to washing it off. I found it gentler than the micellar solution.

Price: Rs 990 for 200ml

Ingredients: Water, Paraffinum Liquidum/Mineral Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Potassium Phosphate, Carbomer, Parfum/Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Dipotassium Phosphate, Disodium EDTA, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Myrtrimonium Bromide, Butylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii Seedcake Extract/Shea Butter Seedcake Extract, Code F.I.L D39079/7.

Overall: To begin with, I had zero expectations from these two. Oils are buddies when it comes to removing makeup. I had the notion etched in my mind that micellar waters are not efficient and cleansing lotions are born to sting eyes. Vichy opened my eyes- literally - because I can keep my eyes open while using them without any fear :P Jokes apart, they are worth the price. If you have never tried micellar water then instead of Bioderma, go for this - far more practical and cost effective as you need less. Just one swipe do the work for you. Both are good options but, I am partial towards to micellar water.

Which is your favorite makeup remover? I am currently traveling with The Body Shop camomile cleansing butter
