The Face Shop Hyaluronic Acid and Pearl Essential Sheet Mask

Sheet masks are lazy girl's DIY spa facial. It is sad that we don't have many options in India. I have used various Innisfree sheet masks. I found these The Face Shop Essential Sheet Masks at Sephora Delhi last year. For some reason or other, I was preserving them - maybe for a special day. But, for almost I year I didn't use them until just recently.

I tried the Pearl one during while flying to Ahmadabad. It was a last minute trip for which I had to pack and arrange few other things. I couldn't sleep and my skin was looking dull. I finally decided to tear up the packet and use it up. I find it nice to put on a face mask during flights because there is no one to knock on your doors and deliver your online shopping packages (God forbid!). Also, cabins are always dry so, it feels better, hydrating and refreshing. The first thing I noticed it that the pearl sheet mask has a strong fragrance as if it has been knowingly perfumed. The sheet is loaded with essence to the point that it drips. The sheet is too big to fit properly. You know my watermelon size puffer fish face? Even for that, it was big. There were folds around the jaw. Only my large forehead lived up to the expectations of the giant face for which the sheet mask was made. Because of the folds and the sheet being loaded with essence, it tries to slip and fall off. I could not keep it longer than 5 mins and I took it off to readjust. By then, most of the essence dried up so, it was tough to stick it back. I tried to put it back in the packet and take out the last drop of essence left in it but all in vain. Anyways, I kept it for another 10 minutes. I kept the essence on, didn't washed it off nor used anything on top of it. It hydrated my skin, the dryness patches were gone and added slight brightness. But, nothing remarkable.

After learning my lesson, I tried the Hyaluronic Acid sheet park a day after that. It is not fragranced like the pearl one. This time, I reclined on my back to prevent it from slipping off as even this was too big for my face. I kept it on for about 20 minutes. It took much longer to dry. I have not used Hyaluronic Acid before. People claim that it is great for sensitive skin. After use, I did see a reduction in skin's redness. Also, my skin felt a lot better the next day. Maybe the positive effects were visible because I used this correctly but not the pearl one. I am also tempted to try Hyaluronic Acid gels/creams for sensitive skin. But, there are some saying that it has harsh effect in long term. Maybe sheet masks are the best way to try them.

Price: Rs 110 each at Sephora Delhi

Overall: The Face Shop Essentials Sheet Masks are not bad products but I am not going to repurchase. I will give points for being loaded with but the large size breaks the deal. I should have the freedom to roam or at least, get up and check my Instagram feed while I have my sheet mask on. All I could do with this was to lie back and watch reruns of Pretty Little Liars. In fact, I tried The Face Shop Real Nature Red Ginseng last night and it turned out to be little smaller (Yes, I am on a sheet mask marathon and will talk about the Real Nature range soon).

For something that can be used just once, it sounds expensive but then I get to try something new. What you feel about them? Have you tried sheet marks? Do tell me which ones you liked.
