The Body Shop Nutriganics Drop of Youth + Eye Concentrate + Bouncy Sleeping Mask

The Body Shop was my favorite skincare brand around 4 years back. I thought I will forever be a TBS Vitamin E Night Cream girl. But, later, other brands started to pave their way in. I have the Drops of Youth range from The Body Shop for a long time but I found its major use in the last couple of months. I think the Bouncy Sleeping Mask made me appreciate this range more. Here is a note about the 3 products I have used from The Body Shop Nutriganics Drops of Youth collection.

The Body Shop Nutriganics Drops of Youth Concentrate

Price - Rs 2895 for 30ml

Packaging - It comes in a green glass bottle with a dropper attached to the cap. You need to be careful as it is a glass bottle. You need to push down the cap for the dropper to work and the dropper is not effective in pulling out much product.

Texture – Clear runny gel-like texture which turns into watery when applied. It gets absorbed easily without leaving behind any greasiness or stickiness. If it feels sticky then you surely are applying more than needed.

Efficacy - When Just Herbs Elixir (which is aloe juice with other natural ingredients) worked great for my skin, I realized that aloe is indeed a magic ingredient. Even TBS Drops of Youth has aloe so, I dug it out of my skincare box. Being marketed as a product in which 99% products are natural and 20% are organic, it seriously comes to notice for natural skincare lovers. Unfortunately, one glance at the ingredients list is all it takes to burst the bubble. Nevertheless, I decided to use it at times.

All of it gets absorbed. It gives a cooling effect to the skin (because of the high alcohol in it). The very faint grassy herb smell feels fresh. The serum is meant to be applied before your daily moisturizer but I do not see any noticeable difference. I do like using it when my skin feels dry or patchy but do not have time to use any oils. This is something that I like using only during the day. The dry winter made me reach out to it many times but if I am staying at home, I favor the sleeping mask.

Nutriganics Drops of Youth Concentrate is a best seller from the house of The Body Shop. I personally have not reaped enough benefits from it to recommend other to go ahead and make the purchase. I personally have not got anything more than instant hydration from this. I surely like it over creams (I try not to used creams) for hydration. All in all a good to have product but one does not get what they pay for. There are far better serums with way less chemicals and more skin nourishing ingredients which are priced lower than this.

Ingredients - Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), Alcohol Denat. (Solvent/Diluent), Glycerin (Humectant), Chondrus Crispus Powder (Abrasive), Propanediol (Viscosity Modifier), Sodium Hyaluronate (Humectant), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Skin Conditioning Agent), Adenosine (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Crithmum Maritimum Callus Culture Filtrate (Skin Protectant), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Buddleja Davidii Extract (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Malva Sylvestris Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract/Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Thymus Vulgaris Flower/Leaf Extract/Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Benzoic Acid (Preservative), Sorbic Acid (Preservative), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative).

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate

Price – Rs 1990 for 10ml

Packaging – Sleek plastic bottle. It has a metal roll-on on top. In between, there is the white protruding part which when pressed pushes out the product which spreads on the metal ball. Plastic cap. Travel-friendly.

Texture – Transparent runny gel-like which turns watery when applied. Just like Drops of Youth, it is quickly absorbed.

Efficacy – The metal roll-on needs to be moved under eyes and over lids. The cool metal combined with the cooling effect of alcohol in the product is a delight for anyone who spends too much time in front of the screen (computer/mobile/tabs etc). It is very relaxing. I generally use it right before going to sleep so that I do not open my lids hence, giving the eye concentrate enough time to set, seep in and work. It does not show any magic but it definitely helps me relax my tired eyes. Also, the packing is travel-friendly and I can carry it around and use it any time of the day if needed.

I will recommend it to anyone looking for something that can soothe and relax tired and puffy eyes. The cool metal ball surely helps. This is not a product which can work for heavy dark circles. The price is high but it surely lasts long. I will look for alternatives after this gets over. Maybe Garnier Eye Roll On? But, it is very bad. Any other eye roll on with a metal ball and clear texture which is decent/works?

Ingredients - Aqua/Water/Eau (Solvent), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Alcohol Denat. (Solvent), Sorbitol (Humectant), Pentylene Glycol (Solvent), Glycerin (Humectant), PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, PVP (Hair Fixative), Silica (Absorbent), Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Pullulan (Binder), Orbignya Phalerata Seed Powder (Skin Conditioning Agent), Ethylhexylglycerin (Skin Conditioning Agent), Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil (Emollient), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Hydrolyzed Manihot Esculenta Tuber Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Sodium Hyaluronate (Humectant), Sodium PCA (Humectant), Urea (Humectant), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Adenosine (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Trehalose (Humectant), Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Niacinamide (Skin Conditioning Agent), Polyquaternium-51 (Film Former), Fraxinus Excelsior Bark Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem CellCulture (Skin Conditioning Agent), Glycolic Acid (Skin Conditioning Agent), Potassium Citrate (pH Adjuster), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Silanetriol (Skin Conditioning Agent), CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide (Colorant).

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Price - Rs 2295

Packaging – Flat glass tub with screw-in plastic lid. Comes with a spatula. Does not leaks but not sure if traveling with the heavy glass tub will be an intelligent decision.

Texture – When they say bouncy, they sure as hell mean bouncy. The product is white milky almost solid and changes shape like memory foam.

Efficacy - The idea here is less is more. Initially, I applied to much – like a mask – and got super sticky and highly uncomfortable texture. Now, I used it as a cream and leave it on. Avoid rubbing your face while it is on as it peels. Still, haven’t slept overnight wearing it but have taken naps. This is something I will suggest for dry and dull skin. Anyone who needs to put life back in their skin. It makes skin smoother, removes flakiness and dryness and relieved myself from the redness that I get around the colder months. Also, at times, I use it on targeted area like upper cheeks and around nose which is most prone to damage.

This is a unique skincare item that I will recommend others to try. I have got better and smoother skin from this. But, somehow I still haven’t put it in my regular skincare routine. As I prefer facial oils over silicone, I apply oils overnight and not this. I use it as and when required. The ingredients list is not impressive and crosses off many important checks that any natural skincare lover requires.
