Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub Review |
I am really happy with the results I got from Kama Kumkumadi Thailam.
So, anything which bears similar name excites me equally. I picked it up in December '14 when they were running some offers at store. (I got freebies and samples. See the haul here). Of all the things that I picked, here is the review of Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub.

Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub Texture |
Texture - It is a cream base with mild granules. Also, there are few Kesar aka kumkumadi/saffron (those long stands) which I doubt does anything for scrubing. They might have added it for it benefits and give the product more luxury feel
Effects - The cream base is very very creamy and the granules are very mild. This might be helpful for anyone with sensitive skin. I find that adding water makes the cream base lighter and hence the granules feels abrasive enough to scrub. My skin does feel smooth and hydrated but nothing more than that. I didn't observed any brightening effects because of this.
It claims to reduce pigmentation and dark circles which is impossible to do for a scrub. So, I thought maybe the base is supposed to work here. Sadly, the base dries within minutes if you keep it as face pack. So, no benefits that way for sure.
Smell - Kesar and almond. It does not smells anything like Kumkumadi Thailam.

Packaging - Comes in orange cardboard box. The product comes in a glass tub with a twist cap. Inside, there is a protective lid as well. But, this is definitely not for travelling. You might have to transfer some to a tiny tub.
Buuuuuuut they gave a tiny cute little wooden spatula (similar to what they provided with Mridul). Full Marks!!

Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub Ingredients |
Ingredients - It contains many great ingredients but the ingredients list is not a 100% match of Kumkumdai Thailam (which it cannot be anyways). Also, this is not 100% natural and contains chemicals in the very beginning of the list (the ingrients are listed in decreasing order of amount present)

Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub Review |
Sweet
- Creamy base with mild granules is good for sensitive skin
- Contains many precious ingredients like saffron, licorice and wild himalayan cherry
- Exfoliates skin
- Makes skin supple, smooth and hydrated
- Soothing saffron and nutty smell
- Vegan product (contains goat's milk?)
- Not tested on animals
Bitter
- Availability (Only stores and their own online store)
- The price of Rs 795 for 50 grams is something not justified
Overall - Think of Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub as a luxurious product. Something to buy when you are in a mood to splurge. It does exfoliates and makes my skin soft and better. But, I cannot use it as face mask.
Also, I do not see any additional benefit - no brightening or anything else to write a song about. For the price I paid, it should have done at least something to force me to make a jingle. LOL
For example - my skin glows from within the next day of use of FabIndia Charcoal Scrub. This is not a comparison with FabIndia one because Kama Ayurveda contains far far better ingredients. Sadly, those great ingredients didn't showed any additional results. I am somehow not satisfied for the price I paid for this.
So, I repeat - Luxury Ayurvedic Face Scrub. Period.
Love,
Shayoni
