NYX Carribean Collection - I Dream of St. Lucia Eyeshadow Palette Swatch + Review + Where to Buy

Feb 23, 2012

Hi Girls,

Finally, I am back from Andaman with beautiful memories and super tanned skin. I am so tanned that the person from whom I get my grocery commented - "Were you roasted in some Hell?"

Yes, I am roasted but not in Hell. Andaman has the most beautiful beaches that I have ever seen! The Turquoise clear water with little or no waves is a place to be. Anyways after being back from those beaches, I wanted to start again with the blog (a lot of catch up to do and lots of blogs to read) something beach worthy and here comes the
NYX Carribean Collection - I dream of St. Lucia Eyeshadow Palette.

Ever since I wanted vivid eyeshadow colors, I have been eyeing for this palette. Somehow I was not very into a 88 or 120 palette as I might not even use any. The purpose here is only to own them *grin*. The freedom system from Inglot was tempting, but then I didn't want to spend on things that I will very rarely use.

What the NYX website says:

Like a sunset blazing over a tropical beach, these collections each of five best-selling NYX eye shadow colors are undeniably dreamy. Each of the 10 different eye shadow palettes is inspired by an island getaway. Expect rich pigments, lasting payoff, and jet-set glamour.

Ingredients:
Mica, Talc, Zinc Stearate, Mineral Oil, 2-Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tridecyl Trimellitate, B.H.T., Methylparaben, and Propylparaben.

May Contain : Yellow Iron Oxide (CI 77492), Black Iron Oxide (CI 77499), Red Iron Oxide (CI 77491), Brown Iron Oxide (CI 77491/2/9), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarine Blue (CI 77007), FD&C Yellow No.5 (CI 19140:1), Chrome Oxide Green (CI 77288), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), D&C Black No.2 (CI 77266), FD&C Blue No.1 (CI 42090:2), Mica (CI 77019), or Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).

These are made in China. NYX seems to source their stuff from all over. The eye pencils are from Germany, and the blushes are again from China.

Package -

The black box is really sleek and contains the five colors with a mirror and two brushes. I really liked that it had a mirror. In case you are traveling with this then no need to carry around an extra mirror.

Swatches -

To be true, I was not very happy with the pigmentation. I had to use NYX Jumbo Milk (review here). The round swatches are without any base - see how week the pigmentation is. The hearts are with the NYX Jumbo Milk as a base - see the improvement.  The yellow was not what I expected. The yellow and pink are a bit frosty. I will suggest these only if you are okay to use them with a primer always. If you like any single color, then it is better to invest in the NYX singles or the Trio eyeshadows. They have very lovely pigmentation, even without any base.

The top row is under lighted place, and the second row is under sunlight.

Where to buy

I got mine from Joys Cosmetics. Read about it here.
Urban touch is selling it for INR 760 here
At stylecraze for INR 713 here

And now something off the topic. Here is a pic of St Lucia which I got on the internet. I have never been to that part of the world, so I have no idea how it is precisely.

Here are few pics of Andaman taken by me. These are pics in or on the way to Jolly buoy located in Mahatma Gandhi National Park. I experienced my first Snorkeling here. (I cannot swim)

So coming back to the topic - did you liked the island inspired palette?
