Kama Ayurveda Anti-Acne Cleansing Foam with Neem, Tulsi & Tea Tree Review
Kama Ayurveda Anti-Acne Cleansing Foam with Neem, Tulsi & Tea Tree Review

Confession: This was not a planned purchase. 😉

I went to the store for the limited edition Kama Ayurveda Rose Water. I was extensively using the Kama Ayurveda Neem oil this winter. So, decided to pick more neem from the store - a travel size bottle of this Anti-Acne Cleansing Foam and a big tube of Neem Body Scrub.

I do not even have acne like I used to have! My hands initially reached towards the sensitive one but this was priced less. 😐

Price: Rs 595 for 50ml

Packaging: Beautiful illustrations on a plastic body bottle and plastic cap. It comes with a plastic pump that dispenses foam. Travel-friendly and leak-proof.

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate & Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Coco Ampho Acetate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Aqua (and) Phragmites Communis Extract and Poria Cocos extract (China Root), Salicylic acid, Aloe vera Juice, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate & Aqua, Parfum-Essential oil blend of Neem Tulsi and Tea Tree. Calendula extract, Allantoin, Xanthum Gum.

Do you realize what they did here? See where the neem, tulsi, and tea tree is. It is not the active ingredient but the perfume! That too in the very end of the ingredients list. Possibly less than 1%. Who knows? It does not have SLES and SLS and that I will give it to them.

I would not have purchased it if I had checked the ingredients once at the store. I am usually very stringent with the ingredients aspect but I let to slip because I trust Kama Ayurveda. I will see this as a learning experience.

Review: Like all neem face washes, it found it drying. It feels refreshing because of the tea tree fragrance. The packaging does not mention this but it is definitely not for dry skin. I will be using it for travel during summers but I cannot use a drying face wash on a daily basis. Maybe someone with very oily skin will benefit from this.

But, I personally suggest that use a mild cleanser. Stripping your oily skin might result in overactive sebaceous glands resulting in further oily skin.

Overall: I would not have purchased it if I had even glanced at the ingredients list. I do not like it when companies brand their products with ingredients which might not be even 1% of the whole formula. I find this deceiving. Plus, it did nothing for my skin. (Not that I expected anything) This is the exact kind of skincare that I neither purchase nor recommend anyone to buy.

I am going to continue with Kama Ayurveda Rose Jasmine Cleanser and Just Herbs Silkplash (need to purchase this!)

  1. Been there and suffered through a bottle of this :( but the sensitive one is much better, just finished that. I think I’m going to order Silksplash now! You’ve recommended it for so long.
