Eley Kishimoto X The Body Shop Vitamin E (Limited Edition)

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream Eley Kishimoto
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream Limited Edition by Cream Eley Kishimoto

The world is a small place, and life is a circle.

If you have followed my blog for a long time (or have dug deep and read all those old posts. Thank you!) then, you might be aware of the story I am going to tell you.

History: The Body Shop was one of the brands that I lusted for when I was studying. There was no way I could afford them. Even after I started working, I could not dare to enter their stores. But, after a year, all hell broke loose, and I made my first purchase there in 2010. It was at Great India Place, Noida. I shopped for over Rs 6000 which was a big deal for me back then. (Hell! it still is) I was introduced to everything that The Body Shop sold that will suit my skin by the lovely SA at the sore - Razia. For my dry, flaky skin (thanks to the dry winter and full-on AC at my office), I was recommended VItamin E range. For my skin, she suggested African Ximenia Scrub. She introduced me to the Christmas specials and recommended the Spice Vanilla. She is the one who introduced me to Satsuman and Moringa. She even stopped me from buying things that I wanted because they won't suit me and I would end up regretting my purchase.

Present Day: I used Vitamin E cream the entire time I was in Delhi and even for any dry spots in Kolkata. I still use The Body Shop African Ximenia Scrub, and it is in my top favorites. Every year after that, I look forward to Christmas specials and I might or might not have cried when I got to know that The Body Shop discontinued my favorite Spiced Vanilla. I compensate with the Vanilla Body Mist. I love the Satsuma range, and after repurchasing their shower gel bottles, I am thinking of buying that jumbo bottle. Those products that she suggested me not to buy? Discontinued by The Body Shop. Yes, Razia is a darling. (Not that I love the ones at the Kolkata store any less)

A couple of weeks back, I went to the store in Mall of India. Guess who was there? Razia. I stared at her for full five minutes as she was helping other customers. It took me some courage to ask her - "How long have you been working with The Body Shop?" (What a stupid way to ask! I slapped myself in my mind)

Maybe she felt that I am about to complain so, she seemed a little shook but replied, "Yes."

I got all excited and blurted, "Where you in GIP?"

"Yes"

"OMG. I am so happy to see you. You were my first SA who suggested me products that I still use. Thanks, for....."(Well, I just went all fan-girl on her!)

Next time, you need to shop, and you are in Noida, ask for Razia in The Body Shop store at Mall of India, Noida. Because, I know it is important to have a non-pushy helping SA in your life. I am trying to find them for other brands as well. Let me know if you have found any great person or you stick to online shopping.

Just Herbs Kerala COCONUT, Coorgi COFFEE, Wild Indian ROSE Handmade Bathing Bar

Just Herbs Kerala Coconut, Coorgi Coffee, Wild Indian Rose Handmade Soaps
Just Herbs Kerala Coconut, Coorgi Coffee, Wild Indian Rose Handmade Soaps

Somebody, please give a pat on the back the person who zeroed down all the variants of Just Herbs soaps. I am happy that they finally introduced soaps in their collection but I am over the heels for the variants they come in. Such simple fragrances yet there are hardly any soaps to cater to these scents.

Just Herbs recently launched three soaps - Wild Indian Rose, Coorgi Coffee, and Kerala Coconut.

Ingredients: These handmade glycerin soaps are free from Sulphates and Paraben. It has no mineral oils and no animal bi-products. All of these soaps have saponified coconut oil for lather, shea butter for moisture, oatmeal for mild exfoliation and have organic aloe vera juice which is used to infuse the herbs. The soaps also have Sacred Lotus, Indian Sarsaparilla (Anantmool), and Calendula. On top of that, they have the ingredient for the variant.
  • Kerela Coconut: Cocos nucifera (extra virgin coconut) oil.
  • Coorgi Coffee: Coffee arabica (coffee bean) powder.
  • Wild Indian Rose: Indian rose oil.
Basically, the soaps are all same with just one small difference - the ingredient used for the variant.

Kama Ayurveda Pure Mogra Water

Kama Ayurveda Pure Mogra Water Review
Kama Ayurveda Pure Mogra Water Review

You know what goes in hand in hand with my addiction for face oils? Face mists. You need them to let the face oils work its magic. Plus, it helps avoid acne, keeps skin fresh, and a blessing for anyone with sensitive skin.

My favorite is rose water. But, back in March, my Good Earth Rosewater was almost over, and I had no idea that we will be moving to Delhi. I am not a big fan of the Forest Essentials Rose Toner. So, I went to Kama Ayurveda. Rosewater was out of stock so, I picked Mogra. You can see my Kama Ayurveda Haul here

The Body Shop DROPS OF LIGHT Skin Defence SPF 50 PA++++, Liquid Peel, and Serum

The Body Shop Drops of Light Skin Defence SPF 50 PA++++, Liquid Peel, and Serum

The Body Shop Drops of Light is not a new range. They had the serum last year but this year they introduced more products to the line. Initially, I was not keen on trying these because I do not use lightening or whitening products nor do I support them. But, these are brightening products and we all need to those to bid dullness good bye.

Two of these three are my current skincare favorites. The third isn't.

My Favorite Soaps

Best Soaps in India
Best Soaps in India (All Budgets)

I moved to shower gel long time back. But, I still use soaps at times. First of all, they are easy to travel with - carry a smaller piece and second, they generally have lesser parabens compared to shower gel as these are water-free and less prone to germ attack. (But, try not to share and use smaller size even in shower so that you can throw them in case of any issues).

Here are few of my favorites. (Most of these have been on list for a long time)

(I do not have all with me currently so, all of them are not shown in the picture)

Greenberry Organics 3 In 1 MUD ASH Face Care

Greenberry Organics Mud Ash 3 in 1 Face Cleanser Scrub Mask Review
Greenberry Organics Mud Ash 3 in 1 Face Cleanser Scrub Mask Review

People ask me how I can try so many different products? What if they harm you? Well, what if they don't?

It is not like I randomly pick things up. I read the ingredients list. Without a doubt, I have also developed a bias for few ingredients which generally work for me like charcoal and clay. There is a list of products that I can honestly trust.

Right at that moment, I find something on Amazon with all the exact ingredients - Greenberry Organics Mud Ash 3 in 1. I asked the seller more, and he decided to send me few of their products. You might have already heard about this brand. You can read more here - Greenberry Organics.

Now, I used it right after I received it. I was at Nagpur during that time. The next day, my skin felt dry and flaky. Something was wrong. I had my doubts on this but going by ingredients list, there was no way it could happen. I didn't use it again but my skin condition deteriorated - red and irritated even by plain water. But, I was not sure if this was to blame. I shared a pic on Instagram. To my relief, one of my dear friend Rini mentioned that is very common in Nagpur during summer. My skin was not used to the dry heat. On top of that, I cannot promise that I was wearing sunscreen every time I stepped out. Opps. I went to my MIL's place where I used curd as a face pack. Everything was resolved. It was a bad case of sunburn.

It took me some courage to pick it up again for use. Now, the tub is almost empty.

It is good.

Greenberry Organics Mud Ash can be used as a cleanser, mask, and scrub.

Ingredients: The ingredients are very potent, and they do warn that one should not keep it for long. Maybe because of the tea tree.

Bentonite Clay, Kaolin Clay, Glycerin, Aqua, Aloe Vera Extracts, Activated Charcoal, Walnut Shell Powder, Phynoxy Ethanol, Xanthan Gum, Chamomile Extracts, Tea Tree

But, they have recently updated their formula. If you buy now, you get an even better mix of ingredients:

Kaolin Clay, French Green Clay, Natural Glycerine, Zinc Oxide, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis), Bentonite Powder, Turmeric Powder (Curcuma Longa), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis), Activated Charcoal Powder, Pentavitin, Jojoba Beads, Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia), Clove Oil (Syzygium Aromaticum), Vitamin C And Vitamin E.

Nice to see that they have removed Phynoxy Ethanol. Also, Charcoal is pushed down the list because there was no way that the formula has a high concentration of charcoal. If you have worked directly with charcoal, you will know that in high concentrations it just sticks to your skin. (More on that in next post about Activated Charcoal and Uses).

Fragrance: When it was new, it smelt like it overloaded with tea tree oil, but the scent went down with use.

As Cleanser: It lathers well and the walnut shell makes it an exfoliating cleanser. It washes off completely without making skin dry. Only one question - how does it create those bubbles? I see no ingredients here which can create lather. 😶

As Mask: You can keep it on only for three minutes. No more than that because the brand warns against it. So, not a big fan here because for me face mask is the time when I can let my skin recharge while I cut off from the world and have some 'me' time. Three minutes is far too less for 'me' time.  (I think the warning is removed for the new formula). Not that I have not tried it. It used to have a cooling effect like The Body Shop Tea Tree 3 in 1 but the effect dwindled down later. It is no longer as cooling as it used to be. Also, I do not notice any radiance added to my skin after use. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not even on the next day like what I found with FabIndia Charcoal Scrub. It spreads easily even with the walnut shells and washes off completely.

As Scrub: Now, this is how I love it. It is the strongest scrub that I have owned to date. Thought it exfoliates like a champion, it does not irritate. If you are looking for a physical exfoliator, then you have found gold here. Flaky skin and blackheads do not stand a chance to survive. If you have blackheads issue, then you have to own it. Scrub once a week and you are sorted. 💪

Greenberry Organics Mud Ash 3 in 1 Face Care Review

Overall: I thought it would be cooling and help dry out pimples like The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 and give a glowing effect like FabIndia Charcoal Scrub. The best of two of my favorites. But, it wasn't able to keep up to my expectations. They have upgraded their formula so, the new one might work.

Buy it:
  • If you are looking for a strong physical scrub which is not too harsh yet scrubs away, then you have to buy this.
  • If you have oily skin.
  • If you suffer from clogged pores every now and then.
  • If blackheads are driving you crazy.

Ignore it:
  • If you are looking for a one stop solution, then it might not be the best one out there.
  • If you have dehydrated skin. For dry skin, it can be too drying. If you have dry skin but still wish to use it then try to keep it on the skin for as less time as possible.

Price: Rs 595 for 100gm. But, they keep on running offers on Amazon.

Love,
Shayoni

PS: Sorry for the super long review.
PPS: I will be sharing you about 'chemical' exfoliators soon. This is something that I have discovered only a couple of months back.

Recent Empties

Empties

Most of the products I got with me were full to the brim so, it took me some time to come up with these. (Remember the empties post with 30 items that I did just before leaving Kolkata in April?)

Also, I have so sucked into the household business that I was hardly taking care of myself - no skin care routine (my skin didn' responded well to the lack of pampering) and three-minute showers. I am trying to make amends in that.

The keyword here is - trying.
