I have no idea why I got caught up in the end of January and so, I skipped empties post. I do not like doing them late. So, here we have another combined empties post. Presenting the first empties post of the year :) There are lot of products. This month, instead of throwing away the empty bottles, I am keeping most of them for recycling (I will share more in the next post)

Herb Infused Mitti Se Anti Hairfall Oil Revitalizing & Relaxing
Back in summer 2008, I went to Kerala. In Kerala, people are aware of Ayurveda and herbs and those are easily available. I highly respect them for that. I was not aware of most of the things back then. But, I do recall that they used to sell some bunch of dried herbs. When I inquired about them to a native friend, she told me that it was for making hair oil. Even at her home, I saw they while oiling the ladies of the house would warm coconut oil with some herbs. I was intrigued but not enough to buy a bunch of dried herbs for myself.
In the last few years, Ayurveda and herbs have excited me a lot. In fact, this winter, I dried orange peels, neem, basil, turmeric roots and some other herbs to make a body oil with solar infusion method. (Solar Infusion Method – Put your herbs in a glass bottle filled with oil. Keep it under the Sun every day. Slowly, the goodness of the ingredients will seep into the oil. In general, it takes 1-2 weeks for it to take effect.) But, the whole plan is yet to materialize because I am not able to source by favorite almond oil. Maybe I will use the FabIndia one for now (or use sesame oil). I also wanted to make one for hair with amla, etc and one for face (with saffron). But, nothing materialized.
Luckily, the universe knows how lazy I am. So, to make things simpler for me, it introduced me to this Herb-Infused Oil. I found this in my favorite destination for all things natural – Rainbow Organics. This is from a brand – Mitti Se (meaning – from Soil). All the solid herbs floating in this oil are famous for hair care and prescribed in Ayurveda. The base oil is sesame oil and it also contains Indian basil essential oil.

The first time I ever tried anything from Wella was their SP Luxe Oil that I received in My Envy Box November. As I loved how it detangled my hair, I had high hope from Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Smoothening Treatment.

L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime CC Cream Skin Tone Perfecting Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen Review
Remember when 3 years back every single company was coming up with BB Creams? Each one of them? Then, someone decided to reinvent the wheel and introduced CC. They even went ahead with DD cream but my journey had stopped at BB creams since I realized that it is basically a cream mixed with foundation. All the more, it is difficult to even get the perfect match. I won’t deny the fact that there was an itch in me to try CC cream (and I still want to try DD creams) just to see what the hype is all about. Then, a CC cream entered my vanity and interestingly from the brand I wanted to try – L’Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skin Tone Perfecting CC Cream.

Now, La Roche-Posay is synonymous with good skin. So, last year when I saw them in GNC pharmacy in Delhi, I could not stop myself. I had to stock up my favorites and try something new (though I already had just splurged in Sephora the previous day. One such gem (that I picked up) is La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Sunscreen Dry Touch Gel-Creme Anti-Shine. Not only it is the sunscreen with the longest name (among the ones I have tried), it is one of the best.

I started applying henna on my hair back in 2008. I have applied before that as well but not regularly. Later, I got my hair chemically straightened in 2009 and stopped using all natural things. Again, I picked up using it regularly from 2012. The reason I started using henna for hair was to get the auburn/burgundy tint. Naturally, I have brown hair, and I do not like that. The reddish tone is something I strive for. So, I have never been picky about the brand I use. The usual Ayur one does the job for me. But, then the usual ones started changing their formula. Each one began to market them as ‘Contains Amla’ or ‘Boosted with 18 other herbs’ etc. Then, it started to go bad for me because every one added Alma in their formula and Alma due to its high iron content turns hair into black. Around the same time, I stopped using chemicals for hair, and one thing that I had to part my ways with was conditioners. But, anyone with hair long enough to cross their shoulder knows how unmanageable it can get. I still have to use a little bit conditioner at times but it is no longer a ritual followed each time I shampoo. I use henna as a hair mask to condition my hair. Now, many of you are disagreeing with me now. I know many who have got dry and brittle hair because of henna. Frankly speaking, there are too many myths linked with the use of henna. So, here I am trying to debunk the myths with the wisdom I have acquired by using henna for around a decade.
MYTH 1 – Henna is only for dying your hair red – FALSE – It depends on how you use it, how long you use it and what you mix with it.

The moment you hear – Body Mist – you think of good smelling light perfumes that don't even last a couple of hours properly. I have that thought ingrained in me more because I have majorly used body mists from The Body Shop. They do smell nice but longevity is not a virtue they possess. So, without a trace of doubt, I was cynical about the Forest Essentials Nargis Body Mist.
If you have been reading the blog for some time (Thank You), you might be aware that I do not have a good relationship with Forest Essentials. Someway, most of them failed to be proved worthy of the price they are retailed. Here, I must mention that I love the fragrance of FE Nargis and was impressed by the lingering fragrance of the cleansing shower butter.
Here arrives another beauty box - FabBag. The February edition is themed 'Love and Makeup' and I cannot agree more. It contains the right mix of skincare and makeup.
Price - Rs 699 for one-month subscription
Let's see what came in my FabBag. The star of the box (in my view) is the HIKARI Cosmetics Blush in Cameo (Full size, Rs 1000). I love the pale muted matte pink. It is smooth, intensely pigmented and did not have any shimmer. I liked its shade and the formula. It is a good choice as an everyday blush.

|Unboxing My Envy Box February 2016 || Forest Essentials 15th Anniversary Special|
I returned to Kolkata last night and the first thing that caught my eyes was the Envy Box I received this month. The box is a special edition to celebrate the 15 years of Forest Essentials. The packaging needs special mention. I loved the watercolor peacock motifs with gold accents. This is one of the most beautiful boxes crafted and comes second to the 2nd Anniversary Box. The box contains 5 travel size products exclusively from Forest Essentials.

As I try not to use lotions and creams any more, any new variety of oil is always welcome in my life. Another recent introduction to my list of body oils is this sunflower oil with wheatgerm oil, juniper, grapefruit and cypress – Ananda in the Himalaya Detoxifying Body Oil.

Andaaz Ae Lucknow at Kenilworth with Chef Anjum Hasan
The great thing about Kolkata is the city’s cultural heritage. Many fairs and festivals are organized to cater to the love of its own heritage and the hunger to acquit itself with the others. Last Monday, I was invited by Kenilworth to Dastarkhan E-Khas, “Andaaz Ae Lucknow” with Lucknowi Chef Anjum Hasan.
But first, some back story – Last weekend I was travelling. In fact, I could not sleep at all on Sunday night. I reached Kolkata early morning and then directly left for office. After a long day of training, I went to Kenilworth directly. So, you can guess that I was dog tired. At that point I literally just wanted the event to get over soon. But, by the end of it, I never wanted it to get over…

Ponds Age Miracle Firm & Lift Targeted Lifting Serum Massager Review
One great wisdom passed down from my maternal aunt (who is a skincare enthusiast) is to moisturise every time and never forget your neck during that. Extend your face masks to your neck as well. When you get old, no one deserves to have a toned firm skin with a saggy wrinkled neck.
But, call me a rebel or just plain lazy, I do forget to take care of my neck. Most of the time, I do apply face oils and serums but at times I forget. Then, I was introduced to this funky massager that is aimed just for neck and jaw - Ponds Age Miracle Firm & Lift Targeted Lifting Serum Massager.

Last month, I picked up a new shampoo introduced by FabIndia – FabIndia Herbal Shampoo. Being sulphate free, it definitely attracted me. In my battle against SLS, TBS Rainforest Shampoo has come as a winner. I have tried several shampoos that were sulphate free, but then none could make the cut. They either dries my hair, tangles them or are always out of stock. I was afraid of trying something new but, somehow the stars lined up in my favor when I decided to try this.

As I praised Aloe in my TBS Nutraganics post, it made all sense to share with you a product that performed well for me. I received a big 50g sample of Ananda in the Himalayas Aloe Gel and Rose Distillate in My Envy Box. And I loved every bit of it.

Oilcraft Naturals Jojoba Anti-Aging Serum Review (Cheapest Face Oil)
Happy February! My birthday month is here! Just 11 days more :) But, is it just me or January got over too fast? Fortunately, it was a good month for my skin. I tried new things that worked.
I swear by facial oils and everyone knows it by now. The search for a simple and cost effective face oil lead me to Oilcraft Naturals Jojoba Age Defying Serum. It is the most economical face oil I have tried and have the simplest of ingredients. Here are my views after using it for a month.
