Innisfree Bija Trouble Skin

Innisfree Bija Trouble Skin with Torreya Seed Oil and Green Complex Review
Innisfree Bija Trouble Skin with Torreya Seed Oil and Green Complex Review

Am I a skincare snob? Probably yes. I do discard a lot of skincare away because they have some ingredient which I am trying to avoid. As I flip and start reading the label of the products, most SA thinks that I am searching for the price, but you know the case is not the same. But, there are few ingredients which I still prefer when the world has moved on. I love to see alcohol in my toner. They are the ones which seem to work for my acne prone, sensitive, oily combination skin.

And that is how I discovered Innisfree Bija Trouble Skin. Why a new toner? I needed a new toner for daily used because - sorry to be the one to tell you the bad news - my favorite brand, La Roche Posay is not selling their astringent in India anymore. I was happy to discover something similar in the Innisfree store.

Welcome to India, NYX (Product and Price List)

NYX Pro #NYXIndia Lip Pouch Bag
NYX Pro #NYXIndia Lip Pouch Bag

I have great news for makeup lovers.

~ ~ Drum-rolls please ~ ~

NYX is coming to India.

Unless you do not follow international brands or live under a rock, you must have seen people raving about NYX products. I have seen it on various blog. I finally gave into the craze when I purchased my first NYX from eBay in 2011. Along the years, I have bought them from eBay, from Indian online websites and Sephora. While Sephora is the only place where one can touch and feel the products, the shelves were always empty. I have never seen all the goods from NYX in stock at Sephora. But, I should not be complaining because, at Sephora, I found NYX Amsterdam.

New Beauty Destination - Aplava.com

I remember there was a time when online shopping was the only way to shop for makeup and skincare. Slowly, many websites closed and others were not up to the mark. Few survived but had their issues. Online giants also started selling beauty products, but truth be told, I shopped from them only when left with no other options. Seeing a new website is always a relief. But, does Aplava stands out?

What is Sweet about Aplava.com?
  • A lot of brands are available that are not available on other websites. There are many international websites as well as Indian brands which are tough to source. Dermalogica, Thalgo, Ren, Bottega di Lungavita, Tvam, Sebamed are to name a few.
  • Their unique selling point is personalized beauty. Aplava asks a variety of questions regarding your skin type, tone, and other additional issues. When your profile is ready, they recommend products that are perfect for your concerns. It is an excellent way to explore the website and the products.

FabIndia PANCH PUSHP Makeup Remover and Deep Cleansing Oil Review

FabIndia Panch Pushp Makeup Remover and Deep Cleansing Oil Review
FabIndia Panch Pushp Makeup Remover and Deep Cleansing Oil Review

These days I look forward my visit to FabIndia. They are launching new products which not only affordable but works perfectly and have great ingredients. Next time someone complains that good skin care is expensive, point them to the nearest FabIndia store.

On one such recent visit, I discovered the Panch Pushp makeup removers. 'Panch-pushp' literally means five flowers. Most brands use Rose, Marigold, Kewda, Mogra and Saffron. My first Panch Pushp product was a face mist from Oilcraft. While I loved the other two Oilcraft Face Mists, I could not tolerate the Panch Pushp one. Later, I tried the travel size of Forest Essentials Panch Pushp Toner. I liked that but not a fan. So, yes, they are not my favorite fragrance.

But, this Panch Pushp is different. Fabindia uses - Geranium, Camomile, Rose, Lavender. and Jasmine. So, they are lighter and soothing. I can use an entire bath range of this fragrance. Are you listening FabIndia?

(I think the reason I didn't like the previous two was Kewda. I do not like it in food as well)

Now, let's come to the products.

Blast From The Past - Ultra Doux as Ultra Blends || Haircare Haul

Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo and Conditioner, Paraben Free
Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo and Conditioner; Paraben Free

I picked myself up and decide to pay a quick visit to the mall. Then, I saw something that hit me hard - Ultra Doux. Raise your hand if you remember this. It used to be my staple during my hostel days in engineering college. My favorite (and I think I never even tried any other variant) was Walnut Oil and Peach Leaf. It was a match made in heaven for frizzy, dry, and curly hair. (My hair was like noodles back then.) That shampoo and conditioner along with Nivea Soft Cream (and the Nivea soft soap) used to be part of my back-to-hostel shopping list. And then they vanished from India. Not leaving behind a single trace. Until now. I spotted a similar color bottle. The curvy bottle and the ribbed cap brought back several memories. I went to pick it up only to realise -

  • The variants have changed. Some genius has given it an 'environment-friendly-touch'. You know the stereotypical overuse of words like herbs, oils, and henna to haircare products to make it sound more 'green' And the best part? It is not Ultra Doux. It is now Garnier Ultra Blends. I still felt that I should pick one variant for old time's sake, but I could not pick one.

New Garnier Ultra Blends Revitalizing Shampoo with 5 Precious Herbs (Green Tea, Lemon, Henna, Aloe, Eucalyptus), Anti Hairfall Shampoo (Royal Jelly & Lavender), Nourishing Shine (Henna & Blackberry), Intense Repair (Soy Milk & Almonds), Deep Nourishing (Mythic Olive)

  • Also, I realised that I have sailed and come a long way from them. I checked the ingredients and found SLS and decided that it is definitely no longer for me. Just because it contains a drop of a natural ingredient does not make it natural. I appreciate that they made it Paraben free. A welcoming change in the drugstore shampoo brands. Maybe I will pick it one day just to try because of the memories linked to it.

Instead, I picked few things from the food section of the store. Yes, my beauty products come from food section these days. This is the direction in which I have 'sailed away' from the chemical laden shampoos. LOL.

Bipha Ayurveda Kumkumadi Thailam Review

Almost two weeks back, I started using face oils again. I wanted to start with Rosehip Oil again, but I wanted to try and review the Bipha Ayurveda Kumkumadi Thailam as well which has been with me since March. (I actually started used TBS Drops of Light serum but I needed something stronger to my skin. I have used it at times earlier. So, thought it would be a better choice. Also, it is a 'Kumkumadi Thailam' and you know I am always excited about them)

My Envy Box June 2016

My Envy Box June 2016

After May’s marvelous box, I had my hopes high for My Envy Box. Today morning, I received it, and I scratched it open with my hands as I had no patience to search for scissors. Yes, that excited. The box is pretty with soft flowers, and the design is all over the package – top, side, bottom, and even inside.

This June, My Envy Box sent five products. Let’s explore:

Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara

Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara Review
Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara Review

If I would have believed in first impressions, then I would have thrown it away on Day 1. But, I give everyone their sweet time to let me know how good or bad they are. Now, it is one my favorite mascara.

How did things change? When I tried it initially, it was more fluid, and I took some time to dry. Hence, it would transfer to my lids, clump, and made my lashes look like spider legs. Eww. It happened for almost a week. So, I thought that I should let it dry it little. When I tried it after a few weeks, I got the perfect result. Just one swipe is enough to give volume to my non-existent lashes. On top of that, it dries instantly; there is not clumping, and my lashes look feathery. There is no flaking as well. The mascara curls my lashes without making them stiff. While one coat is enough, two coats give the drama I seek for.

The other Sweet things about Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara:
  • Gorgeous packaging without any flashy design gives it a nice lady-like look.
  • The inverted studs texture makes it easy to hold.
  • It is the blackest black mascara.
  • The wand is longer and makes it easy to work with (It did take me some time to adjust )
  • The brushes are thin in the front and thick on the lower side. The thinner one makes it easy to apply on lower lashes as well.
  • I truly believe that formula is the king here.  According to Givenchy's website,  the innovative formula features silica microbeads filled with keratin to protect lashes. It also contains nourishing rice peptides to strengthen the lash fringe.

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation Atlas Dune 045

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation Atlas Dune 045 Review India
The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation Atlas Dune 045 Review

I am a skincare person. I harp on the same your-skin-stays-with-you-forever string . So, I do not pay much attention to foundation. I do check them out at stores to know about the new ones, but I do not buy them unless I am blown away. I take a lot of my time to settle on them and then, use them almost till their expiry dates :P Hence, I do not have many. I have exactly one concealer palette, one spot concealer, one liquid foundation, one compact powder, one loose powder. So, I like to invest in such a way that I get the best for my money. Instead of buying three average products, it is better to get something with the combined value which works better.

A few months back, The Body Shop launched the new liquid foundation - Fresh Nude Foundation. I could not check it out because my skin color was not perfect. But, around a month back, when I got my skin color back, I went to the store to try it. I was swept off the floor.

Price: Rs 1895 for 30ml

10 Top Favorite Products from The Body Shop That You Must Try

Must Buy from The Body Shop

I came to know about The Body Shop in 2008. They were putting up ads all over the glossy magazines, and I was a student drooling over those tempting pages. A person who hardly saves enough to enjoy good food cannot think about those expensive bath products. Can she? Even after I started working, I never entered their shops. Then, one day, I entered the store, and the floodgates opened.  In these last 6-7 years, I have tried almost everything from The Body Shop, which makes for my skin. Some were great, and others were not that much. Few I cannot live without and others, I won't even know if they discontinued.  (At the end of the post, sharing my thought on how to choose products from The Body Shop)

The Body Shop recently celebrated their ten years anniversary in India. Our of my love for The Body Shop, I wanted to share with you,  my top 10 favorites from their stores. Those who are still new to them and wish to splurge, start making notes :P

(Yes, I tried to make a '10' with the products but there are just 9 products. I have to skip one of them in the picture because I could not make it fit there. My bad)

Unboxing: Oh Cute Box

Oh Cute Box // Beauty Subscription Box with Hard-to-Find Skincare, Haircare, and Makeup

India is a goldmine of natural and ayurvedic products. The only concern is that those brands are not marketed properly, nor they have a right distribution channel. Result? Most brands wither away as people do not get a chance to know about them.

I am always open to trying such brands, and I keep introducing you to such names time and again. There is no away to deny that finding such brands in stores is tough. So, you can imagine how delighted I am to discover a beauty subscription box full of hard-to-find goodies made in Faridabad in North to Pondicherry in South!!

Bipha Ayurveda Healing Herbal Bath Ball Soap

I saw it and I bought it coz you do not discover a spherical herbal soap every day.

Do you? No, you don't :P

You cannot deny that spending Rs 420 for a soap from a brand is not a splurge. But, the question is - Do I regret picking it up?

Eat Sleep Makeup Repeat // June FabBag 2016

Eat. Sleep. Makeup. Repeat.

Just wowed by the pouch. While the last month's mesh one didn't impress me much, this one has been upgraded to my to new travel makeup bag. It is also more spacious and of better material than the previous ones from FabBag.

Let's see if what came inside does justice to the pouch.
