The Body Shop Spa of the World Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay Purifying Clay Body Mask Review
The Body Shop Spa of the World Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay Purifying Clay Body Mask Review

When I first got to know about the Spa of the World collection, the only product that I wanted to use was this. I hear 'Himalayan' and 'charcoal' in one sentence and I am sold! If you have been reading my blog for long (Thanks, darling!) then you already know about my love for charcoal. On top of that, all the products I have tried from the Spa of the World range has been all song and dance.

Unfortunately, I have some complaints.

Price: Rs 1895 for 200 ml. The other products in the Spa of the World collection will last for long but I have doubts about this. You need a good amount for your entire body. Else, you can just apply it on select problematic areas that need attention.

Texture: Smooth paste that dries in 10 minutes. It does not have any exfoliating particles nor shows any exfoliating property when it dries.

Fragrance: Fresh cooling fragrance like lemon and eucalyptus. It works in its favor. It makes the product more relaxing.

Effects: First of all, the fragrance works perfectly for it. Right after you apply it, it switches to you some zen mode. I just want to close my eyes and relax. Unfortunately, I do not have a bath tub so, it does not happen the way I want it to.

Second, it soothes skin immediately. If your skin is irritated by sun and heat, looking lifeless, or  just need some pampering then just apply it. The kaolin in the body mask heals immediately.

Third, after you wash it off, you can see that the skin looks brighter and clear. But, the actual effect comes the next day. Your skin looks even better the next morning. What is even better? You can even use it for your face as well. You get a slight tingling feeling from the oils and it feels good.

How to Use: Apply on your body. Let it rest, absorb all the dirt, grime, oil and sweat, then wash it off. You cannot just stand under the shower and let it wash off. As it does not have any surfactant, it is not easy to wash off. You have to rub every nook and cranny to make sure the product goes away. Otherwise, charcoal can work in a reverse way as well. It can stick to your skin unless you wash it off. I have faced the same concern with I use pure activated charcoal as a face pack. Also, it can get messy while coming off.

Ingredients: Kaolin (Absorbent), Aqua/Water (Solvent), Alcohol Denat. (Solvent), Charcoal Powder (Absorbent), Glycerin (Humectant), Propanediol (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Hectorite (Opacifying Agent), Isostearyl Lactate (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance Ingredient), Salicylic Acid (Preservative), Caprylyl Glycol (Humectant), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Menthyl PCA (Humectant), Salix Alba Bark Extract/Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Menthol (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Dipropylene Glycol (Humectant), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), CI 77499/Iron Oxides (Colour).

Overall: The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay did what I expected from it. It helped me relax and gave me brighter clear skin. This is the first time I used a charcoal body clay. I have used ubtans and other body masks which were easy to wash off. Unfortunately, this had to be rubbed off and gets messy :(

Love,
