The Body Shop Spa of the World FRENCH LAVENDER Massage Oil
I cannot emphasize enough about how thankful I am to The Body Shop for coming up with the Spa of the World range. The well though of ingredients makes them great. I reviewed the scrubs already so; let's start with the oils. First, one here is the French Lavender Massage Oil.
Price: Rs 1695 for 170ml
Packaging: Dark ombre plastic bottle with screw-in cap and dropper. The darker color of the bottle will help retain the goodness of the oil for long.
Texture: Dry oil. Takes few minutes to sink in but leaves no greasiness. The oil is entirely absorbed.
Fragrance: Lavender. Neither too strong nor too light.
How I Use: As mentioned in The Body Shop's website, one is supposed to use it on pulse points to help them relax and sleep. But, I am greedy. Plus, I had no body oils with me in Ahmedabad. So, I used it as a body oil after night time shower before going to sleep.
Effects: The immediate effect is a sense of calm that definitely helps one to sleep. I cannot wait to let the oil sink into my skin so that I can hit the bed after using it. It definitely is relaxing and pleasing. But, what I noticed within a week was that it brightened my skin and many marks on my legs were gone. Then, I analyzed the ingredients and as expected found sweet almond oil to be the prime ingredient. Sweet almond oil is great for skin brightening and also lightens scar marks. This massage oil also contains sesame and jojoba oil which are praised for their benefits for the skin. As you can see that the ingredients are all pure and unlike most other skincare products, there are not many chemicals. (This is the reason I support use of body oils instead of creams and lotions.)
Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil/Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil (Skin Conditioning Agen), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil (Emollient), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil/Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (Emollient), Lavandula Angustifolia Oil/Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil (Natural Additive), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Fragrance Ingredient), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient).
Overall: I love the fragrance, love the texture and the fact that it leaves behind no greasiness, I love the simple ingredients list, and I love that it not only helps me relax but also gives me better skin. The only point not to love here is obviously the price but for the quantity will last me long. All I can say it grab it when you see offers at the store. There is also a Thai Lemongrass variety that you can try. That one feels like a Thai spa.
