The Body Shop Spa of the World AFRICAN XIMENIA Body Scrub
For the first time in Sweet And Bitter Blog, a product is being reviewed for the second time. Why not? I love The Body Shop African Ximenia Body Scrub. Here is how -
- I discovered it back in 2010. Even when I reviewed it in 2012, I had the exact same love for this as I had the first day.
- Most skincare get replaced by newer and shinier products. Every blogger is guilty of this. But, it stayed tall till the end. I marked it in my favorites from The Body Shop post.
- I was slightly disappointed when it got over in 2013. Yes, it used it for almost 3 years and loved it till the last bit left in it. In fact, I forced myself to finish it because it was about to expire the next month. I would have used it longer if I could.
The Body Shop is a bath and body specialist but until recently I do not think they had anything as brilliant as this. The fragrance and texture has no match with anything available in the market. Originally it was part of the Spa Wisdom range. Now, it has been relaunched in the Spa of the World Collection.
Spa of the World Collection - Instead of the general new launches by The Body Shop, this is completely different. Every product of the range has well thought of ingredients and not just launched for fragrance layering. New look for new products. This the only product from the previous products that made its way into the list.
Price: Rs 2,395 for 350ml
Packaging: Earlier they had an acrylic air tight tub. Now, the newer packaging is huge packaging with a screw-in cap. But, as I used to do it earlier, I am never taking or keeping this in the bathroom. Tub packaging makes it unhygienic. So, I just take out of spoon of the scrub
Fragrance: This has an out of the world calming fragrance. If The Body Shop ever retails a perfume that has the same fragrance then I will buy it in a heartbeat. It is 100% unique and I can recognize it anywhere. I do feel the fragrance in the new one is milder than it used it.
Texture: Creamy melted butter with salt granules.
How I use: If you want strong exfoliation then you can use it directly on skin. I personally prefer to damp my fingers while use to get smoother exfoliation. If you just wish to enjoy the fragrance and the moisturisation from the oils, apply it on damp skin. But, in any point if you see that the scrub is falling off then you are using much more than required. I make sure to take just a spoon of the scrub. After scrubbing, I allow the oils to absorb and wash it off after 10-15 minutes.
Effect - The scrub will buff away the dead skin and leave behind smooth skin. I love the sheen he scrub leaves behind and also, the fragrance that lingers after use for some time.Above all, the relaxing and calming effect of the marvelous scrub.

Overall - Just go to the store sometime and give it a sniff. It is one product that is tough to say no to. More than a product for exfoliation, it a product that you should keep to pamper yourself. Though the price is high, it will last you for a long time. My last tub was with me for almost 3 years. Let's see how long this one stays because these days I need a lot of pampering. The Body Shop Spa of the World is helping me in that. I will review the other products soon.
