I Wish to Buy The Entire Chumbak Store

Chumbak Store in Mall of India, Nodia

During my last trip to Delhi, I made a quick trip to Noida just to visit Mall of India. While the whole place is still taking shape with stores slowly mushrooming all over the mall, one store stands out tall. I have never been to any Chumbak store. Chumbak for me has been one brand with great products but with tough availability. I wanted to get my laptop case from there but there was just one option available for my laptop size in entire Kolkata.

Not here.

Here, I was a kid left in an amusement part without parental supervision.

I wanted to buy everything. I am not kidding. I am very much serious. I loved the cups, the cushion covers, the apparels (that too on 70% off), posters...ohhh the posters.. the Cat with two fishes and also that Owl one were perfect.

Delhi Day 5: How I Met My Namesake

There is a reason that it took me three days to publish my 5th day in Delhi. I had a jam-packed day with something interesting to share at every minute of the day. Even after pruning, I was left with around 50 images to share. 50 pictures in one post is a total no. Finally, I decided to make it into three posts. This is the main post and there will be two sub-posts. Hope you like it.

I woke up really excited for the day because I was traveling all the way to Gurgaon. For around 2 years, I liked in Noida during which I used to travel (like many other people) to Gurgaon. It seemed like a torture every day. As I reached closer to my office area, the ugly feeling in the bottom of my stomach would grow even stronger and I started my countdown for the minutes left to go back home.

Today, it was different. For the first time, Gurgaon felt like an intensely beautiful place and I enjoyed my ride there. I wore the long slit top and the sunglasses from Sarojini. LOL.

I went to Ambience Mall Gurgaon to check the new Spa of the World range of The Body Shop. No other new launch from The Body Shop has excited me this much. I recently reviewed the African Ximenia scrub and will review the other products soon.

The Body Shop Spa of the World AFRICAN XIMENIA Body Scrub

The Body Shop Spa of the World African Ximenia Body Scrub
The Body Shop Spa of the World African Ximenia Body Scrub Review

For the first time in Sweet And Bitter Blog, a product is being reviewed for the second time. Why not? I love The Body Shop African Ximenia Body Scrub. Here is how -
  • I discovered it back in 2010. Even when I reviewed it in 2012, I had the exact same love for this as I had the first day.
  • Most skincare get replaced by newer and shinier products. Every blogger is guilty of this. But, it stayed tall till the end. I marked it in my favorites from The Body Shop post.
  • I was slightly disappointed when it got over in 2013. Yes, it used it for almost 3 years and loved it till the last bit left in it. In fact, I forced myself to finish it because it was about to expire the next month. I would have used it longer if I could.

Delhi Day 4: India Gate, Delhi Haat, School Friends, and Pandara Road

Morning walk to India Gate #ZeroMakeup

Going to India Gate for a morning stroll or visit the place at midnight had been on my bucket list since 2009 when I got to visit Delhi for the first time. I never though it will be possible because I have lived in either Noida or Gurgaon. But, the night before I realized that maybe this is the only chance I will ever get to go there all alone. So, I woke up early, but the foggy weather made me go out late. I wanted some sunlight for the pictures.

Walking by the poshest roads lined with trees felt great. I walked (not ran) because I had to preserve energy for the whole day. India Gate looks even more beautiful and serene. With almost zero traffic, fewer crowd, nil sellers, and hundreds of pigeons, it is hard to come back. Anyways, I had my whole day planned so, I came back.

My 90s Childhood

Remember the times when childhood was simpler. There was no concept for pre-school or play schools or whatever that is going on now which I am yet to wrap my head around. Majorly because even for being born in the late 80s, I even had the simplest childhood among my cousins because I was raised in a town in Arunachal Pradesh.

Delhi Day 3: Shopping at Sarojini Nagar Market and The Biggest Bhatura

Snacking on Rajasthani Ber while shopping at Sarojini Nagar Market

Tuesday was fixed for a shopping trip in Sarojini. I had my list of things to buy from here. After spending lot of time and money there in the last few years, here I what I had in my list to get from Sarojini
  • Simple tops that goes with everything. Think stripes and simple textures. I had no intentions of buying anything fancy which I do not end up wearing. Maybe skirts for summers or a slit tops that everyone is wearing. I end up getting a white skirt and a reversible cotton skirt. I also got a slit top which is super comfortable and I can wear it all day long.
  • Printed scarves that are sold for Rs 50 because they are great. I am also cheap that way. Unless it is handcrafted/embroidered etc. I find it impossible to shell out money on stoles and scarves
  • Sunglasses because I realized that the ones I like in stores are never under Rs 15,000. On top of that, I am afraid to travel around with the Vogue one I have as I have lost and found it three times so far.
  • Pajamas and sleepwear because they are good in quality and yet priced low. Buy from stalls who are selling

While traveling, the biggest bargain you have to make with yourself is what to pack and what to leave behind. My current trip was supposed to be for just two weeks which has now stretched to four additional weeks. Obviously, now, I have started to miss a lot of things which I now think that I should have brought along. On top of my list is definitely these two cleansers from Vichy.

Delhi Day 2 : Something Old and Something New

Delhi never fails to surprise me. I thought that only Kolkata has those old building dotting the posh areas - remains of the elegant past, places which refused to be broken down and turned into glass-walled structures. But, while walking in the poshest of the Delhi roads, I saw this. It made me stop because I never expect this in Delhi. In between planned roads, MP bungalows, and fancy offices, how did you managed to stay strong?

I made a quick stop at Smoothie Factory because - frozen yogurt! My initial plan was to have Chole Bhature in Bengali Market but this seemed healthier. Also, I got to try two new flavors - New York Cheesecake and Red Velvet. I can safely say that I love fruit one more.

After, this I went to buy sweets at Bengali Market. I was on my way to Shahadra to meet my septuagenarian uncle. This time, instead of ola or uber, I decided to take my favorite metro. Delhi metro has changed and I have forgotten a lot of things about it. It felt familiar but it still managed to confuse me at times. The day before hubby picked few books from Saket. I was dead against it because we both have a Kindle. But, when he made his mind, I slipped Mrs. Funnybones into his basket. Do read this book at least once. The book portrays the modern feminist views in an interestingly way.

Delhi Day 1: Realised That Shopping Cannot Be Forced And Ordered Every Drink in The Menu

My recent trip to Delhi was planned months ago. As I know that I love to shop there, I was saving my money for a quite some time to make the splurge there. I arrived late (due to weather issues) on Saturday night but we did nothing special that day. So, let’s start with the official Day 1 – 13th March, Sunday.

Pineapple Flip-flops

I was looking for a flip-flop for six months! Yes, I found nothing interesting or worthy enough. But, yesterday was different. I found this in Westside and I had to bring it home. It is yellow, it is bright, the print is cute and even the straps are printed. Plus, I got it in my size! Wooohoooo...

Never thought a flip-flop will make me happy. Yellow = Happy.

A Week in Ahmedabad

On 6th March night (read: 11 PM), I got a call from the office asking me if I was ready to travel for a work opportunity in Ahmedabad. As I am making a point not to say no to new experiences, I said yes. So, in 12 hours I was catching a flight. Also, there was a week-long plan of Delhi right after this trip so, packing was not easy. All done and complete, I am flying to Ahmedabad. I fell in love with the city even before it landed. All the perfectly lined building, clean and green.

The Face Shop Hyaluronic Acid and Pearl Essential Sheet Mask

Sheet masks are lazy girl's DIY spa facial. It is sad that we don't have many options in India. I have used various Innisfree sheet masks. I found these The Face Shop Essential Sheet Masks at Sephora Delhi last year. For some reason or other, I was preserving them - maybe for a special day. But, for almost I year I didn't use them until just recently.

Goodies from New Zealand

New Zealand Haul

Confession: I am a hoarder. If I like it then, I buy it.

Giving me a surprise gift me is not easy. I usually end up getting things that I already have or something that I do not use.

Until now...

Krya for Skin and Hair || 100% Natural

You know my love for natural products and luckily, I reside in the right country. While the terms 'natural' and 'Ayurveda' are used in drugstore products just to save on taxes (though there are just a drop or two of few natural ingredients), there are many indie brands who strives to bring 100% natural products in the market. Time and again I find brands with resonates with my thought process. Today, I am introducing another such brand - Krya

What is so special about Krya? Krya manufactures plant based powder products (hence, no need for preservatives or paraben). The started with home care products for daily needs like detergents, etc.  Now, they also have products for skin and hair. With recyclable packaging, these have a rustic charm. They used certified organics products that are safe, non-toxic, vegan and biodegradable. As they powdered products, you will also need them in less quantity. Each product have a handful of potent ingredients which at times are changed based on seasons. They are also priced low.
