La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser
Here, I am with another La Roche Posay product. I might have certain soft spot for them ;)
Price – Rs 1250 for 200ml
Packaging – Plastic tube with blue flip-top cap. The cap does not come out so, no chance of adulteration. The sample size had a screw in cap and I carried it every day to my office. The bigger size is too big to travel with but the flip top is strong and spill proof. I guess I will transfer it to a smaller bottle when I need to travel.
Texture – Thin transparent gel. Mild foam. I use a pea size or less.
Ingredients – Soap-free formula. Does not contain SLS but contains SLES.
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, PEG-8, Coco-Betaine, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Zinc PCA, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Parfum/Fragrance.
Views - I received the sample last year in Delhi. If you remember, how I got sudden acne while using TBS Oils of Life. That time, I started using the sample along with two other champions from LRP. This helped me to get back my clear skin. I was skeptical in the beginning because of the presence of SLES. Later, I started appreciating it.
It definitely is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. I have not got any rashes or pimples after I started using it. (Few days back, I got some tiny ones on my right cheek but it was due to an experiment I was doing with a not so clean brush #My Fault #Fail. But, I used this ‘opportunity’ to test an anti-acne face pack and serum #AlwaysExperimenting).
It also soothes irritated skin (Thanks to Zinc PCA). It is free of soap, alcohol and oil. The mild foam cleanses properly and washes off leaving behind a smooth, soft and clean skin. It never causes any dryness (I use pea-size or less). My favorite time to use it is in morning. I loved it every bit.
I was thinking of purchasing it but then truth be told, I have too many to finish (Hello to full size FE cleanser and others). Then, this humongous 200ml tube came to my life. I cannot be happier about it because the sample is over. I am using the bigger bottle for over a fortnight now.
Overall – I highly recommend this face wash if you have acne prone oily skin and need something that is dermatologically recommended. But, this is definitely not the product for you if you wish to go chemical-free as it contains sulphates, parabens and fragrance. In spite of the odd ingredients list, it works. I do not think that making it a daily cleanser is a good idea. I will prefer using it when my skin is not behaving well (and also, when I travel).
Another cleanser which is suitable for sensitive acne prone skin is Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion (non-foaming).
Also, I would like to recommend my top favorites –
- Just Herbs Silkplash (economical & 98.2% natural)
- Kama Rose Jasmine Cleanser (100% vegan)
- Burt’s Bees Orange Cleanser (100% natural but, not for very oily acne prone skin)
PS: I do not like how the pictures look here :(
