The Body Shop OILS OF LIFE Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil Review || One Month Analysis
|The Body Shop OILS OF LIFE Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil Review|
Last month, The Body Shop swept everyone away with the delightful launch of Oils Of Life range. With well thought of ingredients that are best in class and claiming to be 99% oils of natural origin, the product was calling my name. The range has 3 products in India. I choose to try the oil. Here is my review after more than a month’s use.
Price – Rs 3095 for 30ml. This might sound expensive on the first go but actually, this is cheaper than most oils because of the quantity.
Packaging - The packaging is mature to aim the preferred class. The ombre glass bottle looks a lot more confident than most face oils.
Texture – Dry oil which is absorbed quickly.
Fragrance – It does have some ingredients which are generally used for fragrance but this does not have any smell. It has a faint fragrance which is almost undetectable.
Efficacy – As the oil get absorbed quickly, the greed to get a better skin made me apply a little bit more of the product. So, within the first three days, my face got oily, pores around nose enlarged. While I was seeing online positive reviews of this everywhere, it made me wonder what I was doing wrong. On top of that, I was using it only once instead of the recommended twice a day ritual. What would happen if I use it twice?
As far as my personal experience goes, facial oils work better on moist skin – you need less and it gets absorbed easily. So, I worked it with FE rose water. Woke up with tiny bumps. That is totally the rose water’s fault because I faced this issue with other facial oils as well. Will tell you in detail in the review of the rose water. Then, I started using it with Kama Rose water and I could feel the difference. It kept my skin moisturized and supple throughout the winter nights. My skin is sensitive to cold air and get red bumps in the morning. I felt it was less this year. Maybe it successfully sealed my skin. I also tried with Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate and got good results.
All was fun and dance until one day, until one day when I woke up with 4-5 big pimples. I had used the Burt’s Bees Oil Cleanser the earlier evening and maybe that and this made my face too oily. Also, my forehead has minute bumps. I felt that it will be a good test for the oil. Unfortunately, even after one week, it did nothing for the acne. I finally had to pull out my big guns and fight those pimples with La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion and La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo. My acne was gone but they made my skin too dry so, I stopped using them. On my super dry and flaky skin, TBS Oils of Life had no effect. Also, this oil did nothing for the acne marks and blemishes. I have used it twice as well but it did nothing.
Overall – For normal skin, when you use Body Shop Oils of Life with rose water, you do see a difference. My skin felt supple, fresh, moisturized and non-greasy. But, it works only for good skin. It does not heal flaky dry skin. I tried using more but all in vain. It can enlarge pores for oily skin. The reason I prefer oils over creams is that the former are quick in delivering. But, it had no effects on marks, blemishes or any other skin worries. If you are looking for a champion then this is not it. The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil performed much better than this.
