Desperate times calls for desperate measures. Right before my wedding I realized that I was hardly doing anything special for my skin. The Forest Essentials store was new in town and also, I needed to buy products worth 5K to get the pink gift box. So, along with the many other things, I picked a super luxurious face scrub which is made majorly of fruit pulps – Forest Essentials Facial Scrub Hand Pounded Organic Fruit

Does it works wonders? Does it justify the price tag?

Fermented Organic Fruit Pulp Ayurvedic Facial Scrub

Formula – Made majorly out of fruits like dates, peach, sweet almond, apricot, walnut, bael along with rose, it is a luxury treat in itself. It also contains honey and vitamin E. Major thumbs up for the formula.

Texture – This facial scrub is not completely homogenous – the particles are of varying size and composition. It is thick and needs to be diluted. The best bet is to apply on wet face. I noticed that it was way better than diluting the face scrub first and then applying it. You need a tiny quantity.

Fragrance – Contains no added fragrance. The fermented fruits give it a smell of overripe guava with dried rose petals. I checked it twice to ensure that it does not contain any guava. Maybe it is the combination of fruits.

Packaging – Comes in a tub. It is better to use spoons. Ask for the wooden spoons from the sales assistants at Forest Essentials store when you make the purchase.

Effects – I apply it on my wet face, scrub it a little and let it sit to make my skin benefit from the AHAs from the fruit mixture. Just when it is about to dry, I splash water on my face and scrub it a little bit more (the granules feel harder this time so, I concentrate on the nose at this point). Finally, wash to off to say hello to smooth, polished, moisturized and fresh skin. The SA suggested the use of a face pack. I personally used it on a clean face to benefit more from the nutrients of the various fruits. I apply rose water, face oils and go off to sleep. It is not something that gives you Hollywood skin nor does it claims to do so. But, it polishes and buffs skin to reveal the radiant skin underneath. The glow effect comes the next day because even my face oils work better when used after this.

Price – Rs 1450 for 50 gm.

Repurchase – As of now, I am trying to make it last as long as I can. It is priced high so, maybe I won’t pick it up the moment my current one is over but only when I am in the mood to splurge.

Overall – I do not see Forest Essentials Hand Pounded Organic Fruit Facial Scrub as a scrub but a face polish. It is gentle and not much effective against blackheads etc. I love how it buffs and also moisturizes. One product that also comes in mind when we talk about high-end Ayurveda products is Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Face Scrub. That is also a good product priced lower than FE, but I personally don’t like the cream base in Kama Ayurveda. Though FE scrub is gentle, it contains some slightly harsh particles and hence might not be suitable for extra sensitive skin. (They must try the Kama Ayurveda one). I loved this fruity formula and appreciated the absence of chemicals.

Love,
Shayoni

PS: I personally find the use of ‘hand pounded’ too desperate but whatever helps their marketing
