March-April Empties Post | One Year Old

Just as I started writing this, I found that I have now writing 'Empties Post' for an entire year!

These are the products that I have finished in March and April. I skipped it in March because I got quite caught up at the beginning of the month and had no intention of doing this post when we were well within the next month.

The Body Shop BLUEBERRY Special Edition Shower Gel and Loofah // Cuteness OVERLOAD

I should have marked the date when I tasted my first Blueberry Cheese Cake from Theos. My life changed that day. I never felt that good ever before in my life. If I am cross at you then please get me a slice of Blueberry Cheese Cake from Theos and I will kiss you on your forehead!

Now, keeping aside the condition on which I might kiss you, I also discovered this amazing fruit - Blueberry. So, the moment I got to know about the launch of Blueberry range by Body Shop, I was smiling ear to ear.
And then I found that Body Shop has launched a special edition to the same with all products - Butter, Scrub, Shower Gel, Body Lotion and a cute smiling Blueberry shaped bath Sponge.

The Body Shop Special Edition Blueberry Loofah

Look at the smiling face.

Just look at it.

Just once more.

How cute is it?

A bath sponge shaped like Blueberry!

12 Beauty Products I REGRET Buying // The Hates, Mistakes, Fails and Flops // Money Down the Drain

Before I start saying anything, let me start with a simple disclaimer.

"The products listed below are the ones which didn't work up to my expectations or the claims they provided. Plus, these are the products which I cannot even employ in other tasks. It might be the case that one of the products listed below is your favorite or holy grail, but sadly these could not float my boat. Interestingly, few of the following products are loved/raved by many bloggers but for me, they turned out to be big failures..."

The beauty products I regret buying are arranged in increasing order of hate - the products listed at the top is the least hated, and the level of hatred grows as you go down the list.

I hope this post helps you to keep your distance from products that will waste your money.

Just Herbs PETALSOFT ANTI TAN Rose Face Pack with Indian Ginseng and Liquorice Review

Just Herbs PETALSOFT ANTI TAN Rose Face Pack with Indian Ginseng and Liquorice Review

When I posted about the Just Herbs haul, I got most comments linked to Just Herbs Petalsoft. I personally wanted to start using the Fennel & Manjistha Rejuvenating Beauty Pack but curiosity got the better of me and I started using Petalsoft. So, after a month of using this almost three times a week, here are my views about it - awesome or skip it?

4 Colorbar QUICK Finish ~ Leaf Me Alone, Mauvizza, Sassy Orchid, Tinkly Orange ~ Nail Polish Swatch

Colorbar QUICK Finish ~ Leaf Me Alone, Mauvizza, Sassy Orchid, Tinkly Orange ~ Nail Polish Swatch

Every time I go out, I tell myself - 'No nailpolish. No lipstick.'

And I end up breaking that every single time.

I used to be a fan of Colorbar when I was in Delhi. I am saying - 'used to' - because after I shifted to Kolkata, I could never spot the latest launches and every good thing will be out of stock without any doubt.

Good news is that we have a new exclusive store of Colorbar at Forum Mall, Kolkata. I have always appreciated their nail polishes - used to be my way to get funky colors as no other brand would release different colors like Colorbar - long before Lakme did Kiwi Martini and Maybelline launched Colorshow.

And as I really love their nail polishes - I got 4 nail polishes.

Actually, I got two - went out of the mall - still feeling incomplete - went back to Colorbar store to buy 2 more - ahhhhh satisfaction!

HAUL and Freebies ~ MAC, Rimmel, Lakme, Deborah Milano, Revlon, L'Occitane, Maybelline | New Year, New Try

Today is Bengali New Year and so, I wanted to try something new. As you might know, I am not at all confident with indoor photography so, I always click outside on weekends. So, today with the use of a 100 Watt soft white bulb, I decided to click pictures on my study desk.

As you will need to see the exact color of each object in review post, I decided to do a haul post. Please do not depend on the colors of the products shown here as they are not even 80% accurate. LOL. This post contains products which I purchased/ordered online in last one week.

So, I will stop my blabbering here  and continue with what I hauled...

Lakme Absolute Color Illusion Nails FANTASY | Frosted Baby Pink | New Lakme Nail Polish Collection

Lakme Absolute Color Illusion Nails FANTASY swatch review

I am quite happy to see Lakme grow by leaps and bounds every year. More happy to see the interesting limited edition collection that Lakme launches during Fashion Weeks. This year, Lakmé unveiled at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort’14 Grand Finale, the statement for the season, showcased by Rajesh Pratap Singh.

Lakme Absolute Illusion comprises of eight metallic shimmer eyeshadow monos which can be worn wet or dry (Lakme Absolute Color Illusion Pearl Eyeshadow priced at Rs.750) and four limited edition nail colors (Lakme Absolute Color Illusion Nails priced at Rs.200).

Here is what I found at Lakme's website -

Lakme Absolute Color Illusion Nails

Description - Dramatic mirage to bedazzled daydream, 4 colors to create the perfect Illusion this season.

Key Features -
Easy application
Brilliant metallic hues
Available in 4 shades

BTW, I can bet on one thing - there is a person at the shade-naming-department of Lakme (I hope there is a division as fancy as that!) where a person attaches pink with Fantasy! Do you remember the Fantasy collection by Lakme (back in Spring '11)? They launched some beautiful pink nail polishes - 250 and 252 which are sadly discontinued. I really miss them.

Anyhow, I picked the frosted pink nail polish from the Lakme Absolute Illusion collection and no points for guessing that they named it 'Fantasy'

TWITTER Icons Nail Art | Shocking Seas | Silver Tape from Bourjois Easy Nail Art Kit

Twitter Icons Easy Nail Art

If you follow me on Twitter,  then you will know that every tweet is actually a sync from FB. Every TWEET! Yes, I am almost inactive there. But, all in all you can get all updates at a single place! LOL

I tried this nail art with various twitter icons. The toughest was definitely to make Larry - the twitter bird. The first time I made it, Larry turned out petite. The next time Larry's head became huge. They say third time is the charm so, I am keeping it the way it tuned out. Hmppphhh

Material Used

  • Lakme Color Crush 08 as White Nail Polish
  • Maybelline Color Show Shocking Seas for Twitter Blue Nail Polish
  • Maybelline Color Show Crystal Clear as Top Coat - not the best choice.
  • Silver Tape from Bourjois Easy Nail Art Kit - Loved it. The tape is strong and sticks easily without causing any damage to nail. Without top coat, the tape start to peel around the ends from day 2 but with top coat, there is no complain.
  • Maybelline Brush (gift with purchase) for strokes used to draw the Twitter bird Larry the Bird. I kept the sally hansen polish remover to clean the brush and keep the brush wet as both the nail polishes are thick.
  • Toothpick as dotting tool. Toothpicks are best disposable dotting tool - easy to use and no need to clean them!

Hello PERFECT Nail Art | Sally Hansen No More Mistakes Manicure Clean-Up Pen Review

Sally Hansen No More Mistakes Manicure Clean-Up Pen Review

When I look back into my previous posts, I find many things that I need to improve on. Specially, the pictures with nail swatches or nail arts. Those tiny nail polish smears around my nail beds almost kills me when I look at my old nail art pictures. They are hardly visible though n*ked eyes but when you click in macro, your camera make it a point to pick the smallest nastiest details. Arghhhhhh

Using Q-tip always made me ruin my nail polish and I was not ready to destroy my brushes by dipping them in nail polish remover. Then, I found this magic wand when I discovered Sally Hansen stuff being sold nearby - Sally Hansen No More Mistakes Manicure Clean-Up Pen.

Revlon Tease Colorburst LACQUER Balm Review and Swatch

As I mentioned in my Revlon Matte Balm review, I was trying to pick lip colors that are not in my vanity. Other than dark colors, there is another thing that I am scared of in lip colors - shimmer. The moment I see any variant of glitter in lip colors, I turn 180 degrees and run. (The main reason I keep safe distance from lip glosses). So, for the first time, I got a color with shimmer - not Christmas Ornament Glitter but some simple hardly visible micro flecks. Remember, baby steps is the way to go!

Presenting, the new launch from Revlon India - Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm Tease.

Revlon Tease Colorburst Lacquer Balm Review and Swatch

Color - Revlon Tease is glossy burnt orange with pink tones having hardly noticeable micro gold glitter. I wore it to office without attracting any unwanted glances so, I can say its not in your face bright color. LOL

Smell - The same old known fresh minty smell which goes off within minutes

Texture - Glossy and lightweight - almost feels like nothing! The balm is very hydrating and as moisturizing as a lip balm.

Application -You get an almost opaque finish. The balm glides to give a smooth application. The coverage is build-able.
