Shameless | Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm
I recently discovered, (when Debi asked me for recommendations on good Gothic shades) that I do not own anything in purple or any daring shades. All my lipstick shades border around pinks, roses, oranges, peaches and reds. Somehow, I got stuck with them - happy and content with familiar colors.
The same happened when I discovered that Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms are launched in India (along with Lacquer). I was about to get another rose shade (Sultry) when I changed my decision and decided to get shameless and got Revlon Shameless - all this talk is not making sense - I KNOW!
Formula - Now coming to the lip color, Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm are kind of the more pigmented and opaque cousins brothers of Revlon Just Bitten Balm Strain. I am not saying so because I got a darker shades. Even the other shades in the store were opaque.
Color - Revlon Shameless is medium rich purple leaning toward berry pink.
Smell - The same old known fresh minty smell which goes off within minutes
Texture - For the matte lipstick lovers, I have a good news - I have applied this lipstick without any lip balm underneath and I didn't felt uncomfortable or dry lips. One of the bang on matte lip color formulas for sure. Light and velvety texture with no drying effect.
Application - For the first two times, I could not a get a even application. My lip borders were more pigmented than the inner parts. No idea why so. But, from the third application I can see the color to come out smoother. Even one swipe gives complete opaque true to tube color. You can see in the lip swatch the color now comes as smooth.
Payoff - As I am still not bold enough to try darker shades outside, I ended up using Revlon Shameless at home this weekend. I am very much delighted with the stay and I can see the color even after 5-6 hours. It starts to fade and gives a berry tone to my lips which I liked. Unless forcefully removed with a makeup removed, at least the stain lasts long. Other than the first two times when I got an uneven application, the color wears off equally. Not the complain that I had with Revlon Rendezvous.
Price - Rs 800. Please do not ask me why every cosmetic brands are increasing their prices like they are playing Snakes and Ladders. Only issue is they are landing on the boxes with ladders. Step on one snake! I beg you! A BIG snake please!
- Light and velvety texture with no drying effect.
- Opaque true to tube color (even for the lighter shades in the range). Covers lip pigmentation.
- Even application with smooth easy to glide texture
- Lasts long
- Fades out evenly
- Leaves behind berry stain
- Only 8 shades are launched in India. ONLY EIGHT!
- Priced at Rs 800. Earlier it was Rs 600 (33% hike!) But, I think this is the issue with all the brands these days.
Overall - This a is blessing for matte lovers. Period.
Big thanks to Debi for making me dare myself.
Anyways, I am still to learn a lot because in the lacquer textures, I got a peachy coral one (another peachy coral but there is something that I do not have - will share in the review post)
